Gemini in Chrome Expands Internationally to India, Canada, and New Zealand
Google is rolling out Gemini in Chrome to India, Canada, and New Zealand while adding support for more than 50 languages and expanding the AI assistant’s availability to the Chrome browser on iOS.
Google is expanding Gemini in Chrome beyond the United States, bringing the built‑in AI assistant to Canada, India, and New Zealand. The rollout also adds support for more than 50 languages and extends availability to the Chrome browser on iOS.
Gemini in Chrome first launched in the U.S. last year and received a significant update earlier this year. The latest expansion marks the first international availability of the feature and broadens how users can access Google’s AI assistant directly from within the browser.
Gemini integrates directly with Chrome tabs and Google services
Gemini in Chrome can be opened from the browser’s top‑right corner, through keyboard shortcuts, the Mac menu bar, or the Windows system tray. It appears either as a floating window or as a side panel attached to the current tab.
The assistant can analyze the context of open tabs, supporting up to ten simultaneously. This allows users to ask questions or perform tasks based on the content currently visible in their browser.
Gemini also connects with several Google services, including Calendar, Docs, Drive, Maps, Search, and YouTube. One integration allows users to compose and send emails directly from Gmail within the side panel.

New tools and safeguards included in the latest update
The update also introduces Nano Banana 2, a feature that enables image editing directly inside the browser without uploading files or opening additional tabs.
Google has added confirmation prompts for actions involving sensitive data. Gemini will ask users to confirm before sending emails, adding events to a calendar, or performing similar tasks.
With this expansion, Gemini in Chrome now supports more than 50 languages, including Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Thai, and Chinese.
The feature is available across Chromebook Plus devices, macOS, and Windows, with the expansion also bringing Gemini functionality to the Chrome browser on iOS.
