Yelp Reservations and Waitlist now work inside ChatGPT, letting you book a table or join the queue at thousands of restaurants across the US and Canada.

You no longer have to leave ChatGPT to lock in a dinner reservation. Yelp announced that its Reservations and Waitlist features now work directly inside ChatGPT, so you can book a table or join the queue at thousands of restaurants across the US and Canada without switching apps.

The whole flow happens in one conversation. Ask ChatGPT for restaurant suggestions, and it pulls up Yelp-powered results with reviews, ratings, and photos. Pick a place, and you can set the party size, date, time, contact details, and any special requests right in the chat, then get your confirmation. If the restaurant is full, you can join its waitlist instead.

One thing still lives outside the chat: changing your plans. Once a booking is made, you manage or modify the reservation through Yelp, not ChatGPT.

ChatGPT now covers all three big booking services

Yelp is not the only reservation option in ChatGPT. The official ChatGPT account confirmed on X that you can find and book a table through OpenTable, Resy, or Yelp directly in a conversation. OpenTable bookings work globally, Resy covers the US, and Yelp handles the US and Canada.

That lineup matters if you actually eat out. Between the three services, most bookable restaurants in North America are now reachable from a single ChatGPT conversation, which used to end with “here are five suggestions, good luck.”

It also fits OpenAI’s bigger push to make ChatGPT do things instead of just suggesting them, from the ChatGPT Work agent that handles multi-step tasks to the upcoming Apple Music integration that builds playlists right in the chat.

    Built on the July partnership

Yelp and OpenAI started this in late July, when Yelp reviews, ratings, photos, and business details began showing up in ChatGPT answers for local searches. Booking is the obvious next step, and Yelp has a number to justify it: in a Morning Consult study it cites, 65% of people said being able to take action, like making a reservation, matters when they use AI tools for local discovery.

Restaurants get something out of this too. Bookings made in ChatGPT flow into Yelp Guest Manager, the same system restaurants already use to run their front of house, so a table booked in a chatbot shows up like any other reservation.

Neither company mentions any plan restrictions, so the feature does not appear to be locked behind a paid ChatGPT tier.
