Amazon has launched a new Fire TV Stick 4K with Wi-Fi 6, a slimmer body, and USB power from a TV. The company says it runs faster than the previous Fire TV Stick 4K Select, though it has not published a speed figure or benchmark. A redesigned Fire TV Remote comes in the box, with a standalone version for existing Fire TV players.

A slimmer 4K stick can use TV USB power

The new stick combines 4K streaming with the slim design Amazon introduced on its Fire TV Stick HD earlier this year. It can draw power from a TV’s USB port through the included cable, so a separate power adapter is not needed for the setup Amazon describes. That should reduce cable clutter behind a television and makes the stick easier to carry for travel.

The stick also supports Wi-Fi 6, which Amazon says can help keep it connected when several devices share a network. Amazon has not shared processor details or a measured performance gain, so the faster claim is relative to the older model rather than a published benchmark readers can compare.

The software details vary across Amazon’s regional announcements. The Australia launch pairs the device with Amazon’s new Fire TV experience and Alexa+ Early Access, while the Brazil and Mexico announcements identify Vega OS. Amazon has not announced an India price or release date.

The bundled remote is easier to use by touch

Amazon reshaped the remote so it is easier to orient without looking down: its top is flat while the curved, weighted bottom helps it settle in the hand. Buttons have more distinct shapes, and the home button has a raised, recognizable surface. The star button, previously reserved for Amazon’s higher-end remote, can open a favorite app or a shortcut such as closed captions or Dialogue Boost.

Dedicated power, volume, and mute buttons can control a compatible TV, soundbar, or receiver. Amazon says the remote pairs with Fire TV streaming players launched from 2019 onward, so people with an older stick can buy the remote separately rather than replace the whole player.

Amazon plans to introduce a Fire TV Remote Plus in 2027. It adds an aluminum body, backlit buttons, and Find My Remote, which can make the remote play a sound through a compatible Alexa device. That is a separate planned accessory; it is not included with this Fire TV Stick.

Price and availability depend on the market

Amazon has confirmed local pricing and dates in four markets so far:

  • Australia: A$129 for the stick, shipping from October 1; A$24.95 for the standalone remote, shipping October 22.
  • Japan: ¥11,980 for the stick, on sale from September 30; ¥2,980 for the remote, shipping October 22.
  • Brazil: R$579 for the stick, with preorders from September 30 and delivery from November 2; R$169 for the remote, shipping November 29.
  • Mexico: MXN 1,499 for the stick, available now; MXN 259 for the remote, shipping in late October.

Amazon has not disclosed a broader global rollout or an India launch date, so buyers elsewhere will need to wait for local availability details.
