Before heading for a shopping spree, the one thing I don’t fail to create is a short note to ensure nothing is left to buy. There is one more thing I make sure to prepare in advance—to add notes to Lockscreen on iPhone and iPad. It allows me to instantly access the notes without having to dig into the app!
With iOS 11, it’s become a lot plain sailing to quickly glance through the notes right from the Lock screen. And just in case, you are still not running the latest version of iOS; you can use a pretty handy app to get through the task.

How to Access Notes From Control Center on iPhone and iPad
iOS 11 allows you to access your notes from CC as well. To do so, you have first to enable them.
Step #1. Open Settings app on your iOS device.
Step #2. Now, you tap on Control Center.
Step #3. Next, tap on Customize Controls.
Step #4. Next up, tap on the “+” button to the left of Notes.
Now, you need to add Notes’ widget to Lockscreen. The process is just as simple.

Step #1. Swipe right to access Lockscreen on your device.
Step #2. Now, scroll down and tap on Edit. Then, find the Notes and tap on the “+” button to the left of it.
Step #3. Next, make sure to tap on Done button at the top right corner to confirm.
How to Customize Notes Options on iPhone and iPad
Step #1. Open Settings app on your device and select Notes → Tap on Notes.
Step #2. Now tap on Access Notes from Lock Screen.
Step #3. Next, tap on the option you want. Check out the following options–
- Off: It will prevent Notes from being accessed from the lockscreen.
- Always Create New Note: It will allow you to create a new note from LC.
- Resume Last Note: It will let you edit the last note you created. Select this one to edit the last edited note.
Then, you have to choose either Created on the Lockscreen or Viewed in the Notes app. Select the preferred option.
How to Customize How Long a Recently Added Note is Accessible from the Lockscreen
There is also an option to configure how long a recently created note is accessible from the LC.
Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iOS device and select Notes.
Step #2. Now, tap on Access Notes from Lock Screen.
Step #3. Next, tap on Resume Last Note.
Step #4. Next up, tap on the amount of time you want. Then check out the following options–
- After 5 Minutes
- After 15 Minutes
- After 1 Hour
- Once Daily
You can select any of the available options as per your need.
How to Add Notes to Lockscreen On iPhone and iPad Using Today Snippet
Today Snippet allows you to add your notes to LS easily. The app requires iOS 9 or later and is available for $0.99. If you are not using iOS 11 on your device, go for this app as it works perfectly and is pretty easy to use.
Step #1. First off, download Today Snippet on your device. Then, swipe right to go to the Lock screen if you are not already there.
Step #2. Now, scroll down and tap on Edit.
Step #3. Next, tap on the “+” button to the left of Today Snippet → Tap on Done button at the top right corner.
Step #5. Now, tap on More button.
Step #6. Turn on the switch next to Today. Make sure to tap on Done to confirm.
Now, head over to the Lock screen and check out the note. It will be waiting for you.
