How to enable Wi-Fi Calling on Apple Watch

Though I still mostly use the cellular network for phone calls, I make sure to take the full advantage of Wi-Fi calling to cut down the phone bill. To have a more seamless experience, I have enabled WiFi calling on Apple Watch to communicate more freely—without having to depend on my iPhone.

Yet to use WiFi calling on your Apple Watch? Setting it up is so simple. Let me walk you through the steps!

Requirements for Wi-Fi Calling on Apple Watch

  • Apple Watch must be running watchOS 5 or later.
  • Your carrier/service provider must offer Wi-Fi Calling.
  • Your Apple Watch and iPhone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and signed into the same Apple ID.

Note

Wi-Fi Calling on Apple Watch is only available in certain regions and is not supported by all carriers.

Before enabling Wi-Fi Calling on your Apple Watch, you need to ensure that the Wi-Fi Calling is set up over your iPhone. You can simply follow the steps below.

How to set up Wi-Fi Calling from iPhone

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to Phone app → Tap on Wi-Fi Calling.
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone → Tap Enable if prompted.

  4. Now, you need to tap <Phone in the top left corner to go back to the previous menu.
  5. Select Calls on Other Devices → Toggle on Allow Calls on Other Devices.

  6. Finally, toggle on Add Wi-Fi Calling for Other Devices for your eligible devices.

Additionally, you can simply turn it off by following the steps above and toggling off Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone if you don’t want to use it anymore.

How to turn on Wi-Fi Calling on Apple Watch

  1. Navigate to the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on My Watch tab.
  3. Scroll down and tap Phone → Toggle on Wi-Fi Calling.
