Karaoke is one of the coolest things about music. There’s no better feeling than being able to sing your favorite song, with all the backing instrument tracks playing from the original song. And if you can do that without having to resort to finding and downloading tracks off the internet, that’s even better.
That’s precisely what iPhone karaoke apps do. With a karaoke app, you can instantly start singing along and even recording and sharing it with your friends/social network. Check out these best karaoke apps built for the iPhone:
1. Yokee: Sing like a Star!
Yokee takes the traditional karaoke approach and puts it inside your iPhone. Typically, you find a good number of karaoke tracks on YouTube. You either play and record along or download them and then sing along. Yokee takes the same approach but it fits it into the confines of your iPhone so you can do that just with the iPhone. With Yokee, you can search for karaoke tracks of almost all your favorites. The app comes with built-in recording features so you can play the karaoke track and sing along.
Yokee also brings with it a share feature and a community/social interface where you can check out what your friends (and others) have sung.

2. StarMaker: Karaoke + Auto-tune
Most karaoke apps for iPhone have a few hundred to few thousand songs in the library. The StarMaker app is one of the very few that has (and adds) some of the very best hits to its library. You can sing karaoke to songs from top artists like Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Bruno Mars, John Legend and others.
In-app purchases unlock more songs and provide VIP access (and remove ads). But most interestingly, the app promotes you to sing and record more karaokes by letting you unlock new songs for every karaoke song you record.
3. Soulo Karaoke
Soulo Karaoke is a typical karaoke app with all the features you’d expect out of any karaoke app. It features a good library of songs that you can add to through various in-app purchases. The app comes with controls that make it easy to tweak the volumes/levels of the minus-one track and your voice track.
The only thing that might bother you is that you’ll have to pay for every additional track you want to add to your library. But that is offset by the fact that Soulo Karaoke can scan your iTunes library to pick from it. If you’ve got karaoke tracks in them, you won’t have to pay for these from within the app.

4. Red Karaoke
Red Karaoke is top-notch in every way. It’s probably the best karaoke app in the store but it does cost a lot of money (and you get what you pay for). Red has one of the finest collections of karaoke tracks. The interface is seamless. It lets you search for tracks based on album, track, artist, genre and more. You can record both audio and video from within the app. And of course, share it with the world and build your fan base.

5. Karaoke Anywhere
Karaoke Anywhere boasts of a 10,000-strong (for a low monthly fee) karaoke tracks library and a powerful interface with controls. Amongst the popular features that you’d like, there’s a playlist feature where you can create a list of the tracks you’re going to sing karaoke for, a key-changing function which alters the key to suit your vocal range, built-in reverb and echo features and a gamified system where you unlock achievements. While a few features are free, most others are unlocked through in-app purchases. But it’s worth it.

6. Sing! Karaoke by Smule
Smule produces some of the finest and the most innovative music-related apps and Sing! Karaoke is one of them. This one is feature-packed with an extensive song library and cool social features that are largely missing from other apps. With Sing! Karaoke, you can record and share your rendition of some of the most popular songs.
And you can also join in other renditions from across the globe to make it a duet or a group song. There are some extra features like effects to enhance your voice. Annual subscriptions to access the entire library cost up to $40. (there are weekly subscriptions [$2.99] too).

7. SingSnap Karaoke
SingSnap declares that it has more karaoke tracks for free than the competitors with paid apps. The claim holds good. It comes with audio-enhancements, a facility to record a video of you singing along with the audio, record duets with other users, and good sharing features.
SignSnap does have a sizable library for free but a monthly $14.99 subscription unlocks all of it.

8. Karaoke – Sing-a-long
This is an old app that hasn’t been updated in a long time. But the reason I’m including this in the list for its simplicity. It doesn’t feature any karaoke track library, nor any additional features that let you add effects to your voice track etc. All it does is picks songs from your iTunes library and lets you record over them. If you have karaoke tracks in your iTunes library, you’re good to go. Sometimes, the app might crash but if you’re just looking for a free app without the hassles of unlocking features or libraries, this is it. Again, you get what you pay for.
