Apple lists iPhone 17 repair costs: batteries from $99, screens up to $379. AppleCare+ slashes fees and adds theft and loss protection.
Apple has revealed how much it will cost to fix the new iPhone 17 lineup, including the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the all-new iPhone Air.
While battery replacements stay flat compared to last year’s iPhone 16 series, other repairs are a mix of price hikes and surprising cuts. Here are all the repair and battery replacement costs for the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
Here’s how the out-of-warranty repair fees compare across the lineup:
Note: These prices are for the U.S. market only and may differ in other countries.
Repair Type | iPhone 17 | iPhone 17 Pro | iPhone 17 Pro Max | iPhone Air |
---|---|---|---|---|
Cracked screen (front only) | $329 | $329 | $379 | $329 |
Back glass damage | $159 | $159 | $159 | $159 |
Cracked screen + back glass | $419 | $419 | $469 | $419 |
Battery | $99 | $119 | $119 | $119 |
Rear camera | $169 | $249 | $249 | $169 |
Other damage | $599 | $749 | $799 | $699 |
Apple isn’t changing much when it comes to battery replacement. The iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and the new iPhone Air all cost $119 for a new battery, while the regular iPhone 17 comes in a little cheaper at $99. That’s the same pricing structure as last year, so no surprises there.
The real difference shows up in screen repairs. On the iPhone 16, the base model screen costs $279 to replace, while the Pro models cost $329. With the iPhone 17, that jumps to $329 for the base and Pro, and $379 for the Pro Max, the most expensive screen repair Apple has listed yet.
Apple did offset this by lowering the back glass repair prices. Where the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max were $199, the iPhone 17 lineup, including the Air, now costs $159. Even the base iPhone dropped slightly from $169 to $159, thanks to Apple’s improved repair process.
If you break both the screen and the back glass, the combined repair cost stays the same for the Pro and Pro Max as last year. But the base iPhone sees a jump, from $369 to $419. That higher price makes sense, though, since the iPhone 17 now carries the same ProMotion display and other advanced screen features once limited to the Pro line.
This breakdown highlights just how expensive repairs can get if your device is not covered by AppleCare+.
With AppleCare+, the costs drop significantly. Screen or back glass repairs can be as low as $29, while other damage ranges up to $99 per incident. AppleCare+ also adds unlimited accidental damage coverage with flat service fees, theft and loss protection for up to two claims every 12 months, free battery replacement if capacity drops below 80%, and 24/7 priority support.
There’s also an AppleCare One plan that covers up to three devices for $19.99/month, with each additional device at $5.99/month.
For people prone to accidents or worried about theft, AppleCare+ can save hundreds compared to out-of-warranty fees and offers extra peace of mind. Plans must be purchased within 60 days of buying a new iPhone, and can be added online, in-store, or from iPhone settings.
For those planning to buy any of the iPhone 17 models, repair fees are something to keep in mind. Battery costs remain stable, but damage to the thin and fragile iPhone Air, or any iPhone 17 model, could hit your wallet hard without AppleCare+.
