The world of slo-mo videos got a renewed interest after Apple put 120fps to the camera in iPhone 5s and added slo-mo features. Our interests have been piqued too and when we stumble on something related to slow-motion, we don’t usually let it pass.

TruSloMo is a new app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad that lets you add slo-mo effects to any video from your camera roll. It’s one of the simplest and easiest slo-mo apps we’ve seen in a while. And it’s worth a try if you are looking to create slow motion videos on your iPhone (4, 4s, 5, 5s, 5c).

Like the Panorama feature for iPhone 5, the slo-mo for iPhone 5s is a device-specific addition which leaves a lot of iPhone 4/5/4s users kind of envious of their iPhone 5s counterparts. Needless to say, slo-mo videos are just kickass when you click them on the iPhone 5s. While exporting them isn’t straightforward, the feature still makes a lot of heads turn.
In the past, the apps we’ve reviewed for slo-mo videos were good. TruSloMo is better in one department: creating slo-mo out of existing videos. Incidentally, that’s the only thing TruSloMo does (as core functionality) and it does excellently.
With TruSloMo, you can pick videos from your camera roll and select a start and end point for the slo-mo effect. You can preview the effect and then apply it if you are satisfied. And then, when you export it, the video gets saved in your camera roll album as a new video. That’s it: from here, you can export it, share it or send it through email or message.
What I really liked about TruSloMo is that the whole process is so simple that there’s no learning curve. Also, the quality is pretty good (in comparison to other apps we’ve used).
