Our first encounter with a wooden case was the Woodchuck iPhone/iPad cover. I was kind of okay with it and for all its simple wooden design, the cover was quite good.
We received Toast wooden covers for iPhone and iPad (thanks to folks at ToastMade!) and after having applied the sticky cases on our devices, we're quite amazed. Toast's wooden cases takes the look of an iPhone (and an iPad) to a whole new level of coolness.
Before we begin, let me point out that any wooden cover is not going to work as a full-fledge case. It's more of an ornamental thing that make your iPhone look unique. It's more interesting to watch others ask about the new look on your iPhone.
So when it comes to that, Toast has produced a really cool and a perfect iPhone and iPad wood cover. At ToastMade, you'll find wood covers for the Galaxy series too along with iPhone 5, 4/4S, iPad and iPad Mini.
Let's run through the pros and cons before we speak about the whole experience of using Toast wood covers:
- Perfect design
- Complete with wraps which cover the volume buttons, the power button along with accurate cutouts
- A lot many varieties of wood and design to choose from
- Customize engraved text
- Really thick unlike many other flimsy wood covers
Note: You've got to be very patient while applying the wood cover
- Thickness can also be a disadvantage as you can't fit most cases after you affix the cover
What's really impressive about Toast covers is the thickness. We've used Woodchuck and we've also seen a few other wood covers similar to them but Toast kind of hits the bull's eye in thickness. It adds this essential feeling of having a cover over your iPhone/iPad.
The wraps are the show-stealer material because they lend that final touch to your iPhone's wooden cover. Crafted perfectly, the wraps fit and bend around the edges. As you can see in the images, Toast covers your iPhone completely leaving only the ports. The cutouts are meticulously crafted too.
We liked Toast's wood cover for iPad more than any other wooden case we tried for the iPad. Toast covers the whole of the back and that makes a lot of difference to the way the iPad looks.
