Stronger Battery is the Most Wanted Feature in 2018 iPhones: Survey

USA Today surveyed 1665 adults of the United States and asked them questions about what they want from 2018 iPhones. Around 75% of respondents want the stronger battery in iPhones to be released this September.

Ahead of the Apple event (scheduled for September 12), customers have registered their demand for some useful features they want to see in future iPhones.

In a consumer survey conducted by an online media, some interesting findings have come out. The results of the survey may shut the mouths of gossipmongers, who have relentlessly been spreading ‘fiction’ stranger than truth.

Users Expect Better Battery from 2018 iPhones

The survey was conducted by USA Today and asked users their expectations from the future iPhones. Consumers got this opportunity to express their likes and dislikes for the devices manufactured by Apple.

USA Today contacted 1665 adults of the United States and asked them what they wanted from the upcoming iPhones.

As expected, most of the people (75%) replied they wanted better battery life in the iPhones to be released this year. This has been a long-standing demand for all iPhone users across the globe as Apple has introduced panoply of features in its iOS devices, but has achieved little at battery performance.

It has been noticed by all users that iPhone batteries hardly see the sunset. To coax the consumers, Apple had introduced low-power mode with iOS 9. But then, users were prevented from using essential services like downloads and mail fetch.

Interestingly, people are willing to flaunt a thicker iPhone if they get a few extra hours of battery life. Remember, with iPhone X, Apple has begun to use the two-cell L-shaped battery. This iPhone is 7.7mm thin.

It is given that iPhone XS cannot fulfill consumers’ demand of more power, but they can always expect stronger battery in that larger 6.5-inch iPhone XS (Plus) as this device is likely to have larger screen area and will consume more battery.

Wireless charging can be a better solution to keep your iPhone charged all day in your office or at home. But Apple has not yet released AirPower mat, which was announced at least a year ago.

A shatter-proof screen is the second demand from consumers. But this can be a distant dream for consumers as well as Apple.

The third is the expandable storage option. It is impossible for Apple to pack this feature in its iOS devices. However, to provide more local storage, Apple is likely to offer a 512GB iPhone (probably iPhone XS). Remember, Apple has always shown its unwillingness to insert any third-party hardware into its own device.

Consumers have still some fascination with that headphone jack, which was removed with the launch of iPhone 7. iPhone users find it way far difficult to listen to music and charge their devices simultaneously. There are 37% respondents, who want that old headphone jack back. On the other hand, Apple is dreaming of creating a wireless world as it has already launched products like AirPods.

Like headphone jack, many still love USB-C (29%). More powerful Face ID and speed gains are other two expectations from respondents. When consumers were asked to select only one feature, they wanted battery life improvement.

Surprisingly, customers are not much concerned about the notch as ‘remove the notch’ was selected only by 10% respondents. This feature had invited sharp criticism from all corners, and the notch is adopted by many Android phones as well.

Signing off…

Though Apple is not going to include any of the features wanted by consumers, it is a good idea to know what people expect from future products. Remember, customers never expected features like Live Photos and Portrait Mode, and still, they enthusiastically accepted the two features.
