At times, you may want to capture videos of what you are doing on-screen. They can come in handy for many purposes like tutorials or giving instructions or simply for your convenience.
There are many ways to go about it. However, if you are a Mac user, you can easily record your screen for free, without having to rely on new tools. Mac users have “QuickTime” that allows you to record your screen activity.
Step-by-step guide to Record Mac Screen on OS X
Step #1. To find QuickTime, go to “Finder” (click on Finder icon from the dock)
Step #2. Tap on “Application”
Step #3. Scroll down and click on “QuickTime Player” to open it
Step #4. Navigate to “File” menu option
Step #5. Choose “New Screen Recording”
Step #6. A small black screen will appear
Step #7. You will see a “red dot” in the middle of it; click on it.
Step #8. Now, you can simply click on Start Recording. This will record the whole screen. To select the portion of the screen, you can click & drag to select the space that you need to record.
Step #9. Once your selection is done, you can carry out the activity that you want to record.
Step #10. When your recording is complete, click on Stop Recording from the top of the window.
Congratulations, your recordings have been created and safely stored in “Movies section.”
Note: You can cancel your recording anytime by closing the window.
To find your screen recordings:
- Open Finder
- Tap on Documents
- Open the Movies folder
- Click and open Screen Recordings
