  1. Great article…question. I don’t care for the IG app for iPad as I have to keep turning my pat vertically (have it connected to a keyboard). Is there any way to get it to turn so I can more comfortably/easily maneuver?? Or, I love the browser using IG but I cannot post using the iPad thru a browser, only reply or “like” other’s posts. Thx in advance for your reply:)

    • You’ll have to use the browser version that you love. But when it comes to posting, I’d suggest you use the IG app. That’s the perfect combination as of now for Instagram on iPad.

  2. I was looking for activating the event suggestions from Mail to Calendar on iPhone.

I’ve noticed sometimes it works and others it doesn’t. I think the key is details being on the Subject line.

I clicked this thinking I would reverse engineer.

    • Yes. It acts according to the subject line, as well as the text inside the email.

For example, I asked my colleague to send me an email with the subject line ‘Lunch Tomorrow.’ The email body had the lines ‘Let us have Pizza tomorrow at 5 PM? What do you say?

The Mail app automatically had two suggestions – one for the subject line ‘Lunch Tomorrow’ and another for ‘tomorrow at 5 PM.’ Tapping on them offers tips like Create Event, Create Reminder, Show in Calendar, Copy Event.

In conclusion, yes, it works according to the text in the email. For more suggestions, open the Settings app → Calendar → Siri & Search → enable desired options here. Plus, go back and enable Location Suggestions. You may do these for Mail too.

  3. while this technically gets rid of all my iMessage history, it corrupts the app. even after reboot, when you launch iMessage, it says “Messages is updating…” with [Quit Messages] as the only way to close this dialog box.

How do we empty out the chat db without deleting it?

EDIT: i copied over the default chat.db* files from a new user, rebooted, and this worked like a charm. Messages.app doesn’t appear to know what to do if you nuke the whole directory like other apps!

    • Thanks for pointing it out… Just now, I tested it on two Macs – one running macOS Sierra and another running macOS Big Sur Beta. In the former, after following the above steps, it did get stuck in updating mode (like you said). However, a simple restart fixed the problem, and the Messages app became a clean slate. On macOS Big Sur, I did not even have to restart. There was no popup saying updating… Nevertheless, in summary, it is safe to say that a restart after following the above steps is recommended.

  4. I’ve ordered from KECC, and have bad experiences, even though the case was fine. I’ve ordered in Ukraine, and now I got my delivery after 2 months of shipping (well for the free worldwide shipping it’s maybe ok, I guess) 😂😅😤 but they didn’t include one of the pieces I was ordering and now don’t reply at my emails, and don’t offer any support whatsoever

  5. When I go to install Catalina from the internet, it defaults to reinstalling Big Sur, and I don’t have the option to install Catalina. Help?

    • Hi, where does it not show? The top menu bar or the emojis do not show while typing? I just checked on my MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur. It seems to work well.
Please Note: Under System Preferences → Keyboard → Input Sources, if you have more than one entry, then the icon in the top menu bar will look different. It may be the country flag, or symbol of a language, etc. Click on it and then choose Show Emoji & Symbols or Show Keyboard Viewer.

  6. I noticed lack of 3D Touch on my iPhone 7 right after “upgrading” to iOS 14 public beta 3. I has iOS 13.6 before “upgrading”…
