New Movies on Disney+ January 2020
Disney+ January 2020 Highlights
#1. Aladdin – Available January 8
You ain’t never had a friend like me
With the multi-talented Will Smith as Genie, the charming Naomi Scott as Jasmine and the handsome Mena Massoud as Aladdin, this colorful, glittery movie is a great family watch for January 2020. You might already be knowing about the story of a poor boy who is lured to go inside a cave where he finds a magical lamp and a magic carpet. On rubbing the lamp, a powerful genie comes out that can grant any three wishes to the possessor of that lamp.
The movie is made on a majestic level and is a visual treat to the eyes. (Classic Disney for you!) Aladdin is musical, comical, romantic, and magical. It is a great one time watch for adults and ever-entertaining for kids. This winter watch it with your family on Disney+!
#2. Cool Runnings – Available January 1
People are always afraid of what’s different
With music from the melodious Hans Zimmer and starring Doug E. Doug, Rawle D. Lewis, John Candy, Malik Yoba, and Leon Robinson, this comedy sports film is loosely based on a true story. Four main characters of the movie try to find multiple ways to earn money to get in the Olympics; however, no sponsor considers their idea seriously, and they end up doing various things like singing on the street, arm wrestling, kissing booth, etc. to raise money.
I do not want to give away much of the plot. This is an incredible watch, and you will most likely enjoy it. This movie’s song ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff is a famous track and was among the top charts in various countries. Start your new year with a bit of comedy, motivation, and entertainment!
#3. Holes – Available January 1
All my life I seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time
Holes tells the story of Stanley (Shia LaBeouf, yes, the Transformers star!), who lives in Texas with his family, who have been cursed to be unlucky! Due to bad luck, Stanley is arrested for stealing sneakers that were donated to charity by a basketball player. He is convicted and sent to a juvenile detention camp for 18 months!
Adventurous, with ample comedy and drama, Holes is a fun watch for this fresh year. It is based on a 1998 novel of the same name.
#4. Red Tails – Available January 1
From the last plane, to the last bullet, to the last minute, to the last man, we fight…
I love war films. Planes, soldiers, courage, adrenaline rush, hope, and glory… Red Tails that features Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Ne-Yo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, and Elijah Kelley in the lead roles checks all boxes. The movie, inspired by true events, tells the story of the 332d Fighter Group – a unit of African-American military pilots who faced racism all through their recruitment and training! They are finally sent to combat in Italy.
This World War II movie is a motivating watch. All the actors are brilliant, and they do their job to perfection. If you even remotely love this kind of movie, you will enjoy Red Tails. And if you have never seen a war movie, this one is an excellent place to start!
#5. Hacksaw – Available January 1
The fifth movie coming to Disney Plus in January 2020 is Hacksaw that tells the story of a wild horse from Canada that no one could ride. A girl captures it to compete in a contest.
