Netflix Takes Offline Route; Plans Magazine Publication to Promote Emmys and Its Shows

Netflix is all set to release its first magazine ahead of Emmy Award this June. This magazine from streaming services media indicates more than just entertainment for you.

Whether it is to bring more consumers on board or to promote the stars and programs of its shows ahead of Emmys, streaming service giant Netflix is planning its first magazine.

According to Bloomberg reports, the working title of this magazine is Wide, which will be a100+ page journal. About the content of this inaugural issue, Bloomberg says there will be interviews, essays, and features about and by the people who work on Netflix series.

Netflix Plans First Magazine Ahead of Emmys

Interestingly, the magazine won’t be available on newsstands, and Netflix is planning to distribute it free. On the face of it, Netflix wants to “highlight particular shows and talent from its ever-growing lineup within the Hollywood community.”

Notably, Netflix had released nearly 700 programs last year, and different genres include movies, TV series, documentaries, stand-up comedies, and animation.

To create a strong streaming service brand, Netflix has already spent millions of bucks to chase Hollywood awards. Further, the brand has also roped in Lisa Taback to supervise awards operations and Krista Smith from Vanity Fair, to assist Lisa.

In an email conversation with Bloomberg, Netflix mentioned, “In preparation for a ground-breaking year in film and television, Netflix has gathered some of the most talented and sought after writers and photographers, thinkers and creatives, to make the inaugural issue of Wide, the Netflix print journal.”

Apart from promoting Emmys, Netflix has also plans to promote its upcoming titles through this magazine. For this purpose, Netflix will distribute its magazine at events it organizes.

The streaming company plans to distribute the magazine in June when members of the television academy vote on Emmy nominations.
