Ahead of Apple’s celebrated event, rumors and gossips are available in plenty. Here comes another one. Since it is from Bloomberg, every Apple lover would take this seriously.
As per the latest reports from the international agency, Apple would ship limited quantities of the lower-cost device, i.e. 6.1-inch iPhone LCD model.
Apple Likely to Ship Limited Quantities of 6.1-inch iPhone Model
For limited quantities, Bloomberg cites earlier reports: “Apple has faced a tight supply of the new low-cost model due to minor complications fitting backlights for the LCD screen, according to people familiar with the matter,” sources close to Apple revealed.
However, Bloomberg quotes Goldman Sach’s analyst Rod Hall as saying that, “Apple may be tempted to delay availability of the LCD version to gauge demand for the more expensive largest new iPhone.”
The analyst’s argument seems convincing, as he believes that “Apple will price LCD iPhone closer to $849 given better-than-expected demand for the current iPhone X this summer.”
Hall’s statement contradicts the popular expectation that the new LCD iPhone will be priced between $699 and $749. Hall believes that a $699 model is unlikely and wouldn’t be good for earnings.
Another Bloomberg prediction reveals that Apple may call its 6.1-inch LCD model as iPhone Xr. This is something new as until now, Apple followers were under the impression that LCD model would be named iPhone 9.
Bloomberg finds logic in this name iPhone Xr; since it is before iPhone Xs, it is Xr. This 6.1-inch device will be similar to iPhone X with aluminum sides with a larger screen. There will be Face ID for authentication and edge swipe gestures for navigation.
The LCD model will be packed with the latest processor A12 chip; however, there will be less RAM than the iPhone Xs and won’t have dual-camera like iPhone X or iPhone Xs. This will make the device look like iPhone 8 from its back.
Genuine iPhone users will find an option of iPhone X in this LCD model, which won’t have OLED display – the biggest technical difference. It is also predicted that LCD model will not feature 3D Touch and for this, incompatibilities in screen technology cited as a reason.
Though the price of this LCD model will remain a mystery, experts believe that it will be between $699 and $849.
Apart from iPhones, users may expect new Apple Watch models with larger screens and better UI.
Everything is rumor and gossip until Mr. Cook and his team demystifies the cost conundrum of Apple devices. Just wait and watch!
