Largan’s ( the largest lens supplier for high-end mobiles and tri-camera supplier ) shares will gain as Samsung/Apple will both act as a strong earnings driver, according to equity report by Jeff Pu, GI Securities.
Increasing Huawei’s smartphone shipments in the overseas (US) market will boost the smartphone supply chain’s (Largan’s) share price in the near term, adds the report.
2020 iPhone Will Have an Upgrade with 7P/6P/5P wide-angle lens
It says, “For Apple, it is widely expected that Largan will lose lens content in 2019’s iPhone to Genius (3406 TT), as the iPhone’s rear lenses will likely stay unchanged at 6P and 5P (see Table below). However, given that Android will move to 7P/8P in 2020, we expect 2020’s iPhone to be upgraded to 7P/6P/5P for wide-angle lens, which bode well for Largan to take back market share.”
Point to be noted is that in one of the tabulated presentations, the Global tri-camera adoption forecasts clearly states the adoption of Tri-camera.

From the above table, it is very clear that tri-camera lens is to come to Apple and the adoption growth forecast from 19% to 51% between 2019 and 2020 is indeed an indicator of things to happen on iPhone and iPad Pro lens front.
Largan will supply three different types of lens for 2019 and 2020 iPhones which comprise of rear lens, front lens, and 3D sensing RX.
The report concludes with the statement: “Largan remains our top pick in the overseas downstream tech, and we retain our Buy rating.”
About risks, it says: “Slower-than-expected optical spec migration, weaker-than-expected smartphone demand, intensified competition, NT dollar appreciation.”
So, the new 2019 and 2020 iPhone will smart tri-camera rear lens, a front lens, and 3D sensing RX indicating that one can look forward to exhilarating visual experience in these models.
