2014 and 2015 were significant years in the history of Apple as the brand launched large-screen iPhones following tremendous public demand or strong competition from Samsung. In September 2014, Apple launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, while in the next year, people saw iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In the year 2016, Apple surprised everyone with a 4-inch iPhone SE.
But why this ruckus over the size of the screen? Well, size does matter. When Apple released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, a kind of cynicism was spread across the globe that Apple would never go back to its original smaller screen iPhones, i.e. 4-inch Smartphones. But all the rumors and claims failed badly after Apple made the iPhone SE official. Let me take you on a small tour to acquaint you with the new iPhone SE.
iPhone SE: Apple's new 4-inch iPhone
The design of the iPhone SE is more or less similar to iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. That’s because both are same in size. There is hardly any difference on the design part. In addition, most of the cases of iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s fit perfectly on iPhone SE as well.
Apple surprised everyone on the processor part. Most of us were expecting iPhone SE to be in the economy range and thus thought it would feature an A8 chip. But to our surprise, Apple loaded an A9 chip, which is similar to iPhone 6s. On the performance part, iPhone SE is no different than iPhone 6s. This is what makes iPhone SE so special.
When it comes to camera, Apple has mastered this segment. The new iPhone SE boasts a 12MP iSight camera, which once again, is similar to iPhone 6s. Moreover, the camera is also capable of capturing Live Photos. What else do you need? 4K recording? Yes, it’s there.
As it was expected that the price of iPhone SE will be budget-friendly, the new masterpiece will be available only in two variants – 16GB and 64GB. Both the variants are quite enough for a normal user wishing to buy his/her first ever iPhone.
There isn’t an official word on the battery capacity, apart from drastic battery performance improvement. Yes, that’s what Apple said at the event. The new iPhone SE has been optimized to deliver better battery performance than iPhone 5 or iPhone 5s.
Apple has not made any compromise in terms of performance in iPhone SE; experts opine that the iPhone SE will give as good performance as iPhone 6s. One of the noticeable differences between iPhone 6s and iPhone SE is the lack of 3D Touch and screen size.
The iPhone SE is also loaded with support for Apple Pay, NFC chip and Touch ID. About pricing, the 16GB variant of iPhone SE will cost $399 while the 64GB variant will cost $499. Apple hasn’t made any changes to the color, that is, Rose Gold, Silver, Space Gray, and Gold will be available for the iPhone SE as well.
