Though the rumors about iPhone SE 2 had been blowing hot and cold for quite some time, they have picked up pace following the revelation of new regulatory filings that offer enough indication about the soon to be launched iPhone. As the grapevine seems to be pretty confident, we were compelled to take a peek at the iPhone SE features, price, specs, and release date.
Are you a big fan of Apple’s vintage 4-inch iPhone? You would be extremely pleased to know that Apple is planning to create an iPhone 8-like design for this ‘smaller’ iPhone. Considering how much love the ageless smartphone is still getting, the decision to inject yet another life into the device seems to be a wise thought!
iPhone SE 2 Release Date, Features, and Price
iPhone SE 2 Design
While some rumors have suggested that the iPhone SE 2 will look a lot like iPhone 8, others have countered that the smartphone’s design won’t change.
Well-known analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple is too busy in planning the successors of iPhone 8 and iPhone X to spare much time for iPhone SE. The device is said to have the 4.7-inch screen and come with a Touch ID button. However, in a recently released report, Kuo reports that hardware specifications of iPhone SE2 will mimic the iPhone 8.
This means Apple will not include a notch on this phone, even if it is coming in 2020. We can also infer that the upcoming SE 2 might flaunt a 4.7-inch LCD panel instead of the 4-inch display.
Contrary to Kuo’s predictions, a report from Nikkei Asian Review suggests that iPhone SE 2 would have “most of the same components” as this year’s iPhone flagship.
Earlier, it was expected that the iPhone SE would have wireless charging support. As Apple’s newest smartphones have already embraced Qi wireless charging, analysts believed that SE 2 would also come loaded with it.
But last year, Kuo also noted that SE 2 would not include features like wireless charging and 3D Touch. However, CNET and famous mobile leaker Ben Geskin believe that Apple’s iPhone SE 2 might come with a wireless charging facility.
“Apple’s next budget iPhone, the rumored iPhone SE 2, could be like the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus in one way: wireless charging. According to the latest rumor, the iPhone SE 2 will adopt a glass backing that will let it top up the battery through a wireless charging pad, similar to the 2017 crop of iPhones.” CNET
Ben Geskin recently tweeted that the iPhone will support Qi-standard wireless charging. Knowing how confident he seems to be, the glass back appears to be certainty on the smartphone.
iPhone SE Camera
According to Kuo, for iPhone SE 2, Apple is targetting customers who are not excited about Face ID camera and multiple cameras; instead, they are keener to experience fast and speedy experience along with the latest iOS features.
Kuo and Nikkie Asian Review stand together on one point: iPhone SE 2 would have Apple A13 Bionic SoC, with 3GB RAM. Interestingly, the same chip is installed in Apple’s latest range of iPhone 11 series.
iPhone SE 2 Price
Since there is no prediction about prices, we have to presume that Apple would sell its second-generation SE at the price of the iPhone 8. It is also rumored that Apple will stop selling iPhone 8 once it releases SE 2; hence, iPhone SE 2 32GB can be up for sale at the same price as the first generation of SE, which was in the price range of $349-$399.
iPhone SE 2 Release Date
From the reports, it is clear that Apple would launch its iPhone SE 2 in the first quarter of 2020. If you trace Apple’s product launch history, the Cupertino-based company does surprise users in March. In 2020, Apple may launch its iPhone SE 2.
