Apple announced the entry of two new smartphones – iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C – while winding up and dropping the sales of iPhone 5.
Things would have been vastly different if Apple chose to have iPhone 5 too. However, by dropping iPhone 5 and replacing it with the plastic iPhone 5C, deciding on what to buy is going to get tough.
Well, actually no. If you were to compare the devices solely on their features, the iPhone 5C is your new iPhone 5. The iPhone 5S just takes the game to an all-new level not unlike how iPhone 4S did to iPhone 4.
Here's a spec sheet comparison between iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5 that might help:
As you can see, the iPhone 5C has one core advantage and disadvantage over the iPhone 5. The advantage is that it comes in multiple colors. The disadvantage is that it's made up of plastic. None of us here has had a chance to see the real device but obviously, holding a plastic gadget definitely feels different.
If someone was waiting for iPhone 5 (expecting a price drop), obviously there's some disappointment but in the end you get the features.
But if you were waiting specifically for an upgrade, the iPhone 5S should be your choice over iPhone 5C. Let me be clear: the iPhone 5C is definitely not an incremental upgrade over iPhone 5. The game has remained the same: only there has been a replacement.
So what's your pick?
