Apple has launched new iMac models at WWDC 2017. Enriched by 500 nits of brightness and support for 1 billion colors, the display is claimed to be the best in the business.

The displays are reportedly 43% brighter than previous models. The computers run a lot faster and designed to provide more consistent performance.

Three times more powerful graphics

The new iMacs are endowed with three times more powerful graphics abilities as against previous generations, faster processors, Thunderbolt 3. They also have got faster storage options.

“With major updates to iMac, and a refresh of our MacBook and MacBook Pro lines, the Mac is stronger than ever,” said John Ternus, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Today iMac gets a huge graphics performance increase, faster CPU performance, Thunderbolt 3 and a brighter Retina display with support for 1 billion colors. We’re also increasing CPU and SSD speed on MacBook, adding faster processors and making faster graphics standard on our 15-inch MacBook Pro and introducing a new $1,299 (US) 13-inch MacBook Pro.”

Faster Kaby Lake processors

The 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs boast of faster Kaby Lake processors up to 4.2 GHz, with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.5 GHz. The Retina 4K display has arrived on the 21.5-inch iMac as well.

Double the memory

The computers come with twice the memory as compared to the previous generation. The Fusion Drive is going to be standard on all 27-inch iMac configurations along with the high-end 21.5-inch iMac.

SSD storage has become 50% faster

SSD storage is claimed to be 50 percent faster on the new iMacs. The graphics have become ultra-powerful due mainly to the Radeon Pro 500-series cards with up to 8GB of VRAM.

As far as faster performance is concerned, the 21.5-inch model is fully capable of providing up to three times faster speeds as compared to the previous iMacs.

Price and availability

The mac models price start at $1,099 For the 21.5-inch iMac. While the 4K 21.5-inch iMac has been priced at $1,299, the 5K 27-inch iMac comes at $1,799.
