How to Automatically Turn off Do Not Disturb on iPhone when Leaving a Location

Apple iPhone has a great feature that automatically turns off Do Not Disturb mode when you leave the location. Check out how to use it with this step-by-step guide

Do Not Disturb mode on the iPhone does its job pretty well cutting out all unnecessary calls while you are sleeping or busy working on something important. Apart from scheduling Do Not Disturb, there’s another impressive thing. You can turn on Do Not Disturb with a condition to automatically turn off when you leave a specific location.

This may not sound of a great deal in the first read, but trust me; it is actually useful. Let’s imagine you are in the office and there’s no specific time of leaving the work. In such a case, scheduling Do Not Disturb to particular hours will not be that fruitful. Ideally, you should use location-based Do Not Disturb feature on iPhone. Not sure how to configure it? Let’s checkout.

Pre-requisites:

  • Make sure Low Power Mode is turned off.
  • Turn on Location settings from Settings → Privacy → Location Services.

Step #1. Open the Control Centre by swiping up from the bottom of the iPhone screen.

On iPhone X Series: Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to access CC.

Step #2. Now touch and hold the ( do not disturb icon) crescent moon icon. You will need to apply a little force on 3D Touch-enabled devices.

Step #3. You’ll notice three options: For 1 Hour, Until Tomorrow Morning, and Until I leave this location. Just below the last option, you’ll see your current location.

That’s it. Do Not Disturb will automatically disable as soon as you leave the current location. In case you wish to disable it, repeat all the steps.

Wrapping up

Honestly, I wasn’t aware of this nifty feature, even though I have been using the iPhone since it was in its adolescence. I accidentally touched the moon icon with a little force, and that led me to know about it. Since then, I have been using it whenever I am at my workplace. Assuming that you have liked this information, make sure you share it with your other iPhone friends.
