After a long wait, Netflix has finally introduced “Smart Downloads” on its iOS app. What makes this feature so appreciable is the ability to not only remove the already watched episode but also automatically download the next episode in the series. So, it won’t clutter the storage of your device.
Another important thing is that it works only on Wi-Fi to ensure your cellular data is not drained out. Considering how user-friendly this feature is many of you’d be willing to enable Smart Downloads in Netflix app on your iOS device. Let me help you get going!
How to Enable Netflix Smart Downloads on iPhone and iPad
Step #1. Launch Netflix app on your iOS device and hit Downloads icon at the bottom.
Step #2. Now, hit Smart Downloads at the top and then turn on the switch.
Alternately, you can tap on the More icon at the bottom → scroll down and select App Settings → Under Downloads section, turn on the switch for Smart Downloads.
That’s all there is to it! From now onwards, the media-streaming app will smartly delete the shows you have watched. And it will automatically make yet-to-be-watched episodes available for offline viewing.
Even though the app already had the option to let users download content manually for offline viewing, this feature is more user-friendly.
Later, if you decide to have manual control over what to delete and whether or not download a specific episode, you can easily disable Smart Downloads by following the explained steps above.
This new add-on arrived on Android in July last year and Netflix had promised to introduce it on iOS by the end of 2018. However, the media-streaming service couldn’t it. Better late than never.
