A few days back we discussed how to enable Wi-Fi Assist on iPhone and iPad running on iOS 9. This feature would automatically turn on your mobile data if your device runs on low or poor Wi-Fi connectivity.
But then users came up with complains that their mobile data was eaten up in hundreds of MBs. Well, this was well expected by many experts and users should not cry over spilt milk. Instead, they should go back and disable Wi-Fi Assist in their iOS 9 enabled devices.
This is quite easy method as you have already enabled this feature on your iPhone or iPad.
How to Disable Wi-Fi Assist on Your iPhone and iPad Running iOS 9
Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iOS device.
Step #2. Tap on Cellular (Some mobile operators display Mobile Data in place of Cellular).
Step #3. Scroll down to Wi-Fi Assist option.
Step #4. Toggle Wi-Fi Assist OFF.
It’s done. Now you can use Wi-Fi network peacefully, and your iPhone will not turn on Mobile Data automatically if you are out of coverage of Wi-Fi.
Now if you wish to enable Wi-Fi Assist quickly at any time in future, you can use Siri command. Ask Siri to “Open Cellular Preferences” and Siri will take you to Wi-Fi Assist screen directly.
From here, you can easily toggle ON Wi-Fi Assist option to enjoy mobile data if your Wi-Fi connection is not working properly.
Please note that you need to enable Voice ID for Hey Siri in your iOS 9 enabled devices like iPhone or iPad.
