Turn Off QuickType Completely on iPhone and iPad

Quicktype reduces the typing time and effort as it suggests options of words for conversation as you type in the text field. It even suggests phrases that are commonly used (and that you use). It adjusts to the style and the degree of formality depending on the medium of your communication (Mail, messages, etc.)

But if you are still addicted to the old ways of typing or messaging, you might want to turn it off completely.

Also, if sometimes you don’t follow the QuickType suggestions, then it is smart enough to understand your avoidance and automatically turns itself off. Please note: This turn off is temporary. It will get active and be in action again when you probably start with a new conversation. For permanent relief from suggestions/predictions, you need to follow the process as explained above.

More on QuickType: the feature itself isn’t all that new to mobile phones. But Apple says that QuickType is smarter and more contextual. Like we said before, it suggests words based on what context you are in – if it’s Mail, it is more likely to predict more formal words. What is even more interesting is that QuickType suggests based on who you are talking to. Of course, all this is based on past conversations so it gets better only with time.

Predictive text (QuickType) also works with various languages around the globe. At the moment, these are some languages that are supported: Japanese Kanji, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese (optimized for Brazil), Italian, German, French and English (US, Canada, Australia and UK).
