This is one of those little, beginner tutorials for people who want to stream content from their iPads (or iPhones) to their television sets (connected via Apple TV). Streaming content wirelessly between one iOS device to another has been made very easy with AirPlay.
A lot of us want to stream videos or photos from our iPhones and iPads to the TV. While it's possible to do it in many ways – using iOS apps/software – AirPlay and Apple TV are one of the easiest and the best ways to stream content between iOS devices. Here's a short tutorial on how to do it:
How to Stream Video & Media from iPad/iPhone to TV Wirelessly
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS 7.
- Apple TV (2, 3)
- A television set connected to the Apple TV
- Wireless network (Wi-Fi)
Step 1. Connect the iPhone or iPad to the Wifi network. Make sure the network is stable.
Step 2. Now, connect your Apple TV to the same Wifi network.
Step 3. Once you have connected both the devices to the Wifi network, it's time to pair them. You can do this by opening the Control Center on the iOS device (iPhone/iPad) and then tapping on AirPlay.
Step 4. When you tap on AirPlay, the list of devices that are connected to the network are shown. Tap on Apple TV.
Step 5. Once you're done connecting, press on Done.
Now, content will be automatically streamed to your television when you view a photo or play a video. It doesn't usually matter what stock app you use: Photos, Video app, YouTube, Safari etc. Some of the apps have built-in AirPlay function which lets you stream content to the Apple TV easily.
AirPlay works best when you have a stable Wi-fi network. It doesn't incur data charges. AirPlay can also be used to stream audio as an output to other devices. If you find that videos are streaming with a delay or getting stuck in between, you might want to reconnect (repeat the steps from the beginning).
