Just a few days back, I was really glad to see “iFile” and “iCleaner Pro” ready to be installed on iPhone running iOS 10. Thanks mainly to Xcode, it’s become possible to sideload apps without having to take the help of App Store.
Don’t have much idea about Xcode? It is an integrated development environment (IDE) which consists of software development tools required to develop apps for macOS Sierra, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. It helps developers in coding, testing or debugging apps.
Though the process of side-loading any app using Xcode is a bit lengthy and require plenty of patience to bear with the steps, the pain is worth enduring. Let’s find out how it works!
How to Sideload Apps on iPhone and iPad Running iOS 10 using Xcode 8
Step 1. First up, you need to install the latest version of Xcode (8.1) on your Mac.
Step #2. Next, head over to https://developer.apple.com. If you don’t have Developer account, create it now. Otherwise, enter your Apple ID and passwords to login.
Step #3. Next, launch Xcode 8 on your Mac. Navigate to Xcode → Preferences → Accounts. Then, click on “+” icon to add your developer Apple account.
Step #4. Now, it’s time to find the app you wish to sideload on your iPhone. In this test, I’m going to try iCleaner Pro and iFile.
Now, it’s time to find the app you wish to sideload on your iPhone. In this test, I’m going to try BlockParty or Github.
Step #5. Copy the URL display at the right side.
Step #6. On Xcode 8, click on Source Control followed by Check Out.
Enter the URL of the app you just copied in the repository location box.
Click on Next → Download button.
The code will now be downloaded in Xcode 8 on your Mac.
After the download process has been completed, you should see app name along with Ready option.
Step #7. Connect your iOS device to your Mac using USB cable.
Then, choose your iPhone from the drop down box next to the app name.
Step #8. When you see Ready, click the “Play” button to start the proceedings. Allow the process to be completely peacefully.
Authorize the App on Your iPhone
Now, you should see the app icon on your iPhone home screen.
It’s time to authorize the app to run on your device.
Open Settings app → General → Profile → Your App → and tap Trust.
That’s it! Now, it’s time to make the best use of the app you have installed on your device.
