How to Set Up iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max, and XR

Setting up iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max or iPhone XR is more straightforward than ever before. Follow along to ideally customize the iPhone!

Just presented yourself a brand new iPhone? Congrats! If you had tried your hands on an iOS device before, setting up iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max, and XR would be pretty much a cakewalk for you.

Even if you have moved to the iOS from Android, getting started on the iPhone won’t be a big deal thanks to the handy set-up assistant that walks you through the steps with ease. You can customize most of the settings including privacy based on needs. And if you don’t want to enable the feature, you may also get the option to skip that.

How to Set Up iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max, and XR

Step #1. First off, you need to turn on your device. Now, you will see “Hello” in various languages. Follow the on-screen instructions to start setting your device.

Note: You have the option to enable VoiceOver or Zoom from the Hello screen. It can be helpful for the blind or the people who have low vision.

Step #2. Next, you have to select your language. Then, choose your country or region.

If your old iPhone is running iOS 11 or later, you can automatically set up your new device with Quick Start. To do so, follow this guide. If you don’t have any device running the latest iOS version, tap on Set Up Manually to continue.

Step #3. Now, you have to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, cellular network, or iTunes to activate and continue setting up your device. Just select the Wi-Fi network you wish to use or choose a different option.

Step #4. Next, you have the option to turn on Location Services to let apps like Find My Friends, Maps to access your location.

Step #5. Next, you get the option to set up Face ID. With this feature, you will be able to unlock your device and authenticate purchases, sign in to apps.

You will also have the option to set a six-digit passcode to offer an additional safeguard to your data.

If you want the four-digit passcode, tap Passcode Options.

Step #6. In case you have iCloud or iTunes backup, or an Android device, you will be able to restore or transfer your data from your old device to your new device.

Tap on Set Up as New iPhone if you want to go with a clean slate.

Step #7. Next up, you have to sign in with your Apple ID and set up iCloud Drive.

Then, you need to enter your Apple ID and password. Next, set up iCloud Drive, Apple Pay, and iCloud Keychain.

Step #8. You can now set up Siri. You will have to speak some phrases so that Siri can get to know your voice.

Step #9. Up next, you can choose settings for app analytics and True Tone.

Step #10. Tap Get Started to finish the process and start using your device.
