How to Put your iPhone 7/7 Plus into DFU Mode

If you are an iPhone user, you may be aware of DFU (Device Firmware Update) Mode. Once enabled, it lets you put your iOS device into a state where it is able to communicate with iTunes-even without activating the boot loader or iOS. Most importantly, it allows your iPhone/iPad to get restored from any state.

How to Enter DFU Mode on iPhone 7/7 Plus

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your device.

Step #1. First off, you need to plug in your iPhone 7 to your computer.

Step #2. Next up, you have to turn off your iPhone.

Step #3. Press and hold down the On/Off button on the right side of your iPhone for 3 seconds.

Step #4. Now, you need to press and hold down the volume down button on the left side of your iPhone while still holding down the On/Off button.

Step #5. Make sure to keep holding both buttons for 10 seconds.

Note: If Apple logo appears on the screen, you will have to start it again. Therefore, make sure not to held them for too long.

Step #6. Now, you need to release the On/Off Button but keep holding the volume down button for about 5 seconds.

Note: If the “Plug into iTunes” screen appears on the screen, then you will need to start it again. Hence, make sure not to held it for too long.

Step #7. Your iPhone will now be in DFU mode. You will get an alert from iTunes saying it has detected your iPhone and allow it to be restored.
