You can now post to Facebook/Twitter directly from Notification Centre in iOS 8 or later thanks to the integration of third party widgets. Instead of going all the way to the official app to post comment, picture or share location, you can do it from Notification Centre itself.
Apple had this feature in iOS 5 and 6 which allowed users to post a casual tweet or post from Notification Centre itself. However, this feature was removed in iOS 7. So users who wanted to post to Facebook or Twitter had to jailbreak the operating system. With a handy app called TapToShare and iOS 8, you can now do this on your iPhone / iPad easily (no jailbreaking, no tweaking required.)
How To Post to Facebook/Twitter Directly from iOS 8 Notification Center
#1. Install TapToShare From App Store
A thing to remember: TapToShare is compatible with iOS 8 or later ( iPhone, iPad, iPod). Therefore, you must make sure your device supports the app.
#2. Add the Widget
Pull down Notification Centre, scroll down, tap on Edit, Add the TapToShare widget by tapping on the + icon next to the widget’s name.)
Now, your device is ready to let you post to Facebook/Twitter directly from any screen without having to open the official apps. So, ready to post or tweet directly from Notification Centre?
Step #1. Pull down the Notification Centre
Step #2. Tap on the Today tab
Step #3. Tap on TapToShare
Step #4. Tap on Tap To Post for Facebook / Tap To Tweet for Twitter
Step #5. Tap on Tweet/Post
That’s done! That’s how you can directly post/tweet from Notification Centre whenever you want. The only criticism, if at all, with this app is that when you tap to post or tweet, it opens TapToShare app and you are allowed to post or tweet from here only.
What if you don’t want Twitter widget in your Notification as you don’t use it much, how will you remove it?
- Open TapToShare
- Enter Settings (tap on the gear icon on top-right)
- Toggle On/Off the social network you want to use. That’s it!
