How to Set Password for Notes on iPhone & iPad

Step #1. Open Notes app on your iPhone/iPad.

Step #2. Either you create a new note or just tap on the existing note.

Step #3. Now tap on Share button from the top right corner.

How to Set a Notes Password in iPhone/iPad Settings

Step #1. Open Settings app on iPhone/iPad → Tap on Notes.

Step #2. Tap on Password → Type in a password that you can remember easily (The password will be applicable to all your notes, which include Notes on Mac also) → You will be asked to verify your password; re-enter the same password for verification.

How to Lock iPhone/iPad Note with password or Touch ID

Step #1. Open Notes app on your iPhone.

Step #2. You can create a new note or simply tap on notes you have already saved on the device.

Here, you can use your Touch ID to lock your note. If you don’t want to use Touch ID, you can choose Enter Password option. If the Touch ID option is not available, just type in your password and tap OK. You will see a confirmation that the note is locked.

Note that you are supposed to type in your password at least once before you could use Touch ID. This will enable you to enter your password in the absence of Touch ID option the first time. Also note that the content of notes will not be seen when the notes are locked; however, the title of the notes is visible. To keep your content secret, give a simple title to the notes.

In case your iPhone gets restarted or is locked by any reason, notes will be locked automatically on your iOS devices. This could happen if you quit Notes app or restart the app. In such scenario, you can re-lock a note.
