We’ve seen a fair share of launchers for the iPhone. Launch Center Pro stands as the sole app that’s designed to work like a launcher. Cross over to the dark side (jailbreak, Cydia, tweaks) and we have a bunch of really cool launcher tweaks that work great.
Today, we take a look at Polus. It’s easy to think of Polus as another quick launcher that works out of the Control Center but it’s a power-packed quick launcher. I think this is a tweak you don’t want to miss.
Polus has some big names on the credits. Jack Willis (NCSettings) and Sentry have developed this tweak so one thing that we can expect is near-perfect packaging.
The tweak is designed to put shortcuts to your favorite apps on the Control Center. But that’s already done, you say? Not like Polus. News about Polus first came up on Reddit when Jack and Sentry announced that they were working on a native launcher for the Control Center. The tweak saw the light of day just about yesterday and it already seals a place in the best tweaks built for the CC.
Polus lets you select apps that you want to launch quickly. You can pick the apps, choose specific icons for the apps from a bundle of glyphs that come packed with the tweak and then you can arrange the order. You can also arrange the layout of the icons in the Control Center’s launcher tab.
Jack Willis has this ability to filter down preferences to a beautiful minimalist level that makes it look like the tweak is built to be completely simple but there’s a lot of under-the-hood power that makes Polus an awesome launcher tweak.
Polus features more options that you can shake a stick at. Things like Activator integration when you tap/tap-and-hold on an app shortcut are really taking it to the next level.
If you want to get to your apps faster, there’s JellyLock for the lockscreen. Swipey and AppBox are also good. Then there’s Gestr which replicates Android app’s draw-to-open-an-app functionality. Polus is probably the most effective Control Center launcher tweak that works smoothly.
Polus is available on the BigBoss repo for $0.99.
