For years, Google Maps had been the undisputed king for several years. However, with Apple Maps improving by leaps and bounds in recent times, Google Maps has faced with huge competition on iOS devices like never before.
Though Google’s navigation is still slightly ahead, the gap has been admirably bridged by Apple Maps. In order to retain its supremacy as well as win back the iPhone users, Google has rolled out a much cleaner UI and added areas of interest.
Google Maps for iPhone Adds Areas of Interest, Rolls Out Cleaner UI
The latest update has highlighted the necessary information in order to make it a bit easy for users to easily access the significant information. It has removed the elements which are not required.
“The world is full of information, which means highlighting necessary info on the map without overcrowding it is a balancing act. So as part of this update, we’ve removed elements that aren’t absolutely required (like road outlines). The result is a cleaner look that makes it easier to see helpful and actionable information like traffic and transit. And we’ve improved the typography of street names, points of interest, transit stations, and more to make them more distinguishable from other things on the map, helping you navigate the world with fewer distractions,” Google.
How to Find Areas of Interest in Google Maps on iPhone or iPad
Step #1. To find an “area of interest,” you will have to launch Google Maps on your iOS device.
Step #2. Next up, you need to look around on the map.
Step #3. When you’ve found an orange-shaded area, you will have to zoom in to see more details about each venue.
Step #4. Now, you need to tap on the venue for more information.
Step #5. The venue name and the time required to reach there will appear at the bottom. Simply pull up the menu to check out the detailed information.
For example, if you want to find any place of interest like restaurant, ATM, school, hospital, cinema hall in a hot spot or determine which way to go at a new place, the areas of interest will immensely help you.
