How to Turn ON Gmail Dark Mode on iPhone and Android

If you already use Dark Mode on your iOS 13, iPadOS, and Android devices, then Gmail should automatically adopt those settings. However, if that hasn’t happened yet, then you can also activate or adjust Gmail Dark Mode settings manually. Google has dubbed the feature as ‘dark theme’ in its app, and it lends you three options to choose from:

  • Light – If you prefer Light Mode for your inbox.
  • Dark – for the lovers of Dark Mode, who want their inbox to be dark always.
  • System Default – Gmail will adopt either light or dark themes as per your device’s setting. For instance, if you have enabled Auto Dark Mode, then Gmail will respect that; i.e., light theme in the mornings and dark in the night.

Note: The update is still rolling out, so it might take 10 – 15 days for you get the feature.

How to Turn ON Dark Mode in Gmail for iPhone and iPad

As mentioned earlier if Dark Mode is enabled on your iOS 13 running device, that Gmail shall automatically adopt it. Though if it doesn’t adopt or you haven’t yet upgraded to iOS 13, then use the following manual method.

Step #4. Tap on Theme.

How to Turn ON Dark Mode in Gmail for Android

Android users who are running Android 10 can set Dark Mode as default and Gmail will follow suit. Go to the Settings app on your device and select Display option, here turn on the Dark theme toggle. If you are using an older version, follow these steps:
