The iOS 13 beta has been out for quite some time now. Today, though, iPhone users can get their hands on the official public version. The process for updating is much simpler than accessing the beta.
In this post, we’ll be showing you how to update your iPhone to iOS 13. We spent a lot of time with the public beta earlier. This gave us a good idea of the kind of tweaks and changes iOS 13 brings over iOS 12. The new OS isn’t a complete reinvention. However, new features like Dark Mode and enhanced privacy and data use settings make it a great iterative update. Let’s find out how you can download and install iOS 13 on your iPhone.
How to Install the iOS 13 on Your iPhone
Device compatibility: You will first want to check if your device is compatible with iOS 13 or not. We’ve prepared a handy list of all iOS 13-compatible devices that you can check out. Note that we included iPadOS devices, too. iPadOS’s official iteration will arrive on September 24th.
How to Update your iPhone to iOS 13 via OTA
We’ll have an update guide for iPad users then. The minimum requirements are straightforward: All A9 devices and above (the iPhone 6S and SE) support the new OS. As a side note, iOS 13 has made the 6S one of the longest-lived iPhones ever. Now you’ll need to decide whether you’re going to update via OTA or through iTunes.
Step #1. Head to Settings on your iPhone.
Step #2. Tap on General, then tap on Software Update.
Step #3. Tap Download and Install. Then, use Touch ID or enter your passcode if asked.
Step #4. Agree to the terms and conditions, then tap on Agree again to confirm and start the download.
Step #5. Wait for the download to finish.
Once the OTA update has finished downloading, your iPhone will reboot and you’ll be iOS 13. Now let’s find out how you can update through iTunes.
How to Download and Install iOS 13 through iTunes on Mac or Windows PC
Step #1. Launch iTunes on your Computer.
Step #2. Use your 30-pin or lightning cable to connect your iPhone to your PC’s USB port.
Step #3. On your PC or Mac, click on the device icon at the top left of iTunes. Head to the Device tab.
Step #4. In iTunes, on the Summary pane of the Device tab, click on Check for Update.
Step #5. Now click on Download and Update. Click Agree on Terms and Conditions.
Step #6. Use Touch ID or enter your passcode if your iPhone prompts you to do so.
Step #7. Wait for the download to finish and install. Your phone will reboot by itself and will now be running the latest version of iOS.
If you’ve followed the steps correctly with either method, you will have the latest iOS version up and running on your iPhone. Enjoy.
