A couple of hours later, Apple will have launched its iPhone 6s and perhaps iPhone 6s Plus too. Being an ardent fan of iPhone, you must be planning to upgrade your iPhone. But have you checked iPhone upgrade eligibility?
If not, you can check with this simple method. We have listed four different ways for four cellular operators: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint. If you are using one of these mobile services, you can check iPhone upgrade eligibility.
How To Find Out If Your iPhone Is Eligible For Upgrade
If you are a Verizon subscriber, it's quite easy to check iPhone upgrade eligibility. Just check the website of Verizon or you can check eligibility on your iPhone.
Open this Verizon Wireless link in your browser and log in. Go to My Verizon, where you can find your upgrade eligibility date on Upgrade Your Device Page. Your account will show a list of mobile numbers; below each mobile number, you can see upgrade eligibility date.
You can also check your iPhone upgrade eligibility from your mobile phone. Dial #874 and you will receive a text message with your upgrade eligibility.
You will be asked to choose one of the two options: get an additional two-year extension or pay for your own device. The second option offers two more options of make upfront payment or payment in 24 monthly installments. This facility is available if your iPhone is eligible for an upgrade on Verizon.
Like Verizon subscribers, AT&T users can also follow the similar method to check their phone upgrade eligibility – either call or check online.
If you want to use your iPhone to check upgrade eligibility, dial *639# from your phone. An SMS will pop up on your mobile screen from AT&T with necessary information about your upgrade eligibility.
For web users, open AT&T website on computer or tablet and log in to myAT&T. Go to the Overview page and click on “I want to” drop-down menu. Choose “Manage my plan & services” option and then click on upgrade eligibility.
Like Verizon, AT&T also offers additional two-year extension if your iPhone is eligible for an upgrade; if you don't want to go for this option, there is another offer to choose for AT&T's Next plan. With this plan, you can get a new iPhone or any other smartphone every 12 months by paying for iPhone in monthly installments.
Unfortunately, T-Mobile subscribers will be disappointed as upgrade eligibility is not relevant for this operator. T-Mobile doesn’t provide subsidized discounts for phones anymore.
Unlike AT&T and Verizon, which allow you to check iPhone upgrade eligibility in two ways, Sprint goes one step further and offers three options to check – text message, online and customer service.
Simply send a text “upgrade” to 1311 and receive details about your phone’s upgrade eligibility.
Call Sprint’s customer care service by pressing *2 on your iPhone; now press 1 and enter your phone number. Then press 1 again to check eligibility.
Open Upgrade Eligibility Site url from here. Sign into My Sprint and click My Account button. Check “upgrade phone” link in “I want to” section that is next to the phone you want to upgrade.
Like AT&T and Verizon, Sprint also offers additional two-year extension to its customers. Or they can choose Sprint’s new iPhone Forever plan. Under this plan, you get a new iPhone or smartphone by paying monthly instalments.
Finally, you can also check your iPhone upgrade eligibility on Apple's website. Unlike above mobile carriers, Apple will ask for account holder’s social security number.
