This has created doubts in the minds of users, and many asked questions regarding how to check if iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus has TSMC or Samsung A9 chip. So we found the solution in an app.
First, you need to download Battery Memory System Status Monitor, developed by Cactos App.
How to Check if Your iPhone 6s/6s Plus Has a TSMC or Samsung A9 Chip
Step #1. Open Battery Memory System Status Monitor on your iPhone 6s.
On the top menu, you can see four tabs: Summary, Processes, System, and Network.
Step #2. Tap on System tab.
On your iPhone 6s, you can see information like OS, Kernel, number of CPUs, model, name, Cache Line Size, L1 Cache Size, and other.
The model name is the key, which opens the secret. Check your iPhone 6s model name and you will find if your phone has TSMC or Samsung A9 chip.
- If your iPhone 6s Plus is made with A9 chip by TSMC, the model name will be N66mAP
- If the model name of your iPhone 6s Plus is N66AP, it has an A9 chip from Samsung
- In case, the iPhone 6s has an N71mAP model name, it is manufactured by TSMC with A9 chip
- If the model name of the iPhone 6s is N71AP, it is made with A9 chip by Samsung
You must have noticed that the alphabet “m” is common in the model names of iPhones with an A9 chip made by TSMC.
There is another app available to check whether your iPhone 6s has TSMC or Samsung A9 chip.

Step #1. Launch the app on your iPhone 6s.
You will see three different options at the bottom menu.
Step #2. Tap on Home.
Here you will find the Model name of your iPhone 6s.
If your iPhone has a Samsung chip, you will find model names: N66AP or N71AP. And if the model name is N66mAP or N71mAP, the A9 chip is made of TSMC.

You can also check the manufacturer of A9 chip from your Mac. First, download iMazing on your Mac.
Step #1. Open iMazing on your Mac.
Step #2. Now connect your iPhone 6s/6s Plus with your Mac.
Step #3. Click on Get Info on iMazing software.
Step #4. Scroll down and check the Hardware Model name.
If the A9 chip is made by Samsung, it will show the model name: N66AP or N71AP. And if the chip is made by TSMC, the model name appears N66mAP or N71mAP.
There is one more option for you to check the manufacturer of A9 chip on your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus. For this, you need to download CPUIentifier software on your iPhone. Before you go for this process, a word of caution: this method is not recommended by experts because CPUIdentifier doesn’t work on every iPhone. It is an unauthorized software developed by Hiraku Jira. You can go ahead at your own risk.
Step #1. Open website: on your iPhone 6s/6s Plus.
Step #2. Tap on “Install”.
Once CPUIdentifier is downloaded on your iPhone:

Step #4. Tap on General.
Step #5. Tap on Profile.
Step #6. Tap profile for Guangzhou Huimei Electronics.
Step #7. Tap on “Trust This App”
Step #8. Now open CPUIdentifier on your iPhone 6s/6s Plus.
You can see the manufacturer of the A9 chip.
Apple has received much censure for this issue of different makers of the A9 chip. Everybody knows that the A9 chip made by TSMC gives better performance than the one made by Samsung. TSMC chip gives 2 hours more battery life to your iPhone; this is a big difference for any smartphone consumer, they will certainly go for a reality check once they buy iPhone 6s or 6s Plus.
