How to Block Calls, Messages and FaceTime on iPhone in iOS 10

By blocking a contact, you can block calls, messages, and FaceTime from the same caller. Read on the two methods to block and unblock the contacts on your iPhone running on iOS 10.

For the last couple of weeks, we have been receiving wrong number calls on our landline phone. It’s a very humble instrument with a base and a handset; no other features like recorder or block call facility. Therefore, every day we regret over our inability to do nothing.

But if you are receiving any pestering calls, messages or FaceTime on your iPhone, you are not helpless. You can block calls, messages, and FaceTime on your iPhone running iOS 10.

For example, somebody is annoying you by constantly making calls, you can block that number. While your iPhone is ringing, disconnect the phone OR let the ring gets silenced, and go to the Recent calls section on your Phone app.

Step #1. On the Recent number list, locate the number you want to block.

Step #2. Tap on (i) next to the phone number.

Apart from a phone number, you will find many options like Call, FaceTime etc. Scroll down, and you will find an option: Block the Caller.

Step #3. Tap on Block the Caller.

An option will swipe up: Block Contact.

Step #4. Tap on Block Contact option.

The contact will be blocked immediately and you won’t receive any irritating call, text or FaceTime call.

You can unblock the contact if you have changed your mind after blocking the contact.

Step #1. Tap on (i) symbol in the Recent list of contacts.

Step #2. Tap on Unblock this Caller (Once you Block the caller, you will see this text on the contact detail screen).

The contact will be unblocked instantly.

There is another way to block calls, messages, and FaceTime on iOS 10 enabled iPhone.

Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iPhone → Tap on Phone.

Step #2. Tap on the Call Blocking & Identification.

Step #3. Tap on the Block Contact.

You will be landed on All Contacts screen.

Step #4. Tap or Select a contact by typing the name in Search Bar.

The contact will be added to Blocked number list.

If you change your mind and want to unblock the blocked contact, you can do it by following similar two methods as mentioned above.

Step #3. Tap on Edit button from the top right corner.

Step #4. Tap on the red circle before the contact → An option to Unblock contact will appear on the right side → Tap on Unblock.

You can also block Messages and FaceTime calls from a particular contact. This will give you the similar result as you have achieved in blocking calls from the contact. Simply tap on Settings → Messages/FaceTime → Blocked → Add New. Select a contact you want to block Messages and FaceTime from. You will never receive a Call, FaceTime call or Message from that contact in future.
