“iMessage” has got a range of fun-loving features to spice up a conversation. And Screen Effects has long been one of my favorites. It’s really cool to add screen effects to iMessage as they, kind of, liven up the mood.

New on iOS? Let me offer you some background about this message effect. Apple revamped its messaging app in iOS 10, bringing tons of new add-ons including bubble and screen effects, Digital Touch, Tapback and more. Since then it has been one of the most loved features. Let me show how you can use this message effect on your iPhone or iPad!

How to Use Screen Effects in iMessage on iPhone and iPad

Step #1. Launch Messages app on your iOS device and then open a conversation or start a new one.

Step #2. Now, type in the message you want to send.

Step #3. Next, touch and hold the arrow.

Step #4. Next up, select Screen tab at the top.

Step #5. Up next, swipe left on the screen to access different effects like Spotlight, Balloons, Confetti, Heart, Lasers, Fireworks, Shooting Star and Celebration.

Step #6. Once you have accessed the preferred option, hit the arrow button to send the message as usual.

Now, your friend will receive your message with the cool screen effect. There is also an option to replay the received message effect. To do so, tap on replay button.

Can’t Receive Full-Screen Effects in iMessage On Your iPhone and iPad? Quick Fix

If Reduce Motion is turned on, you may not receive full-screen effects on your iOS device. But there is a way to circumvent this hurdle.

Step #1. Open Settings app on your iOS device → Tap on General.

Step #2. Next, tap on Accessibility.
