Is Google Introducing Instant Messages in Maps App?

Messages feature in Google Maps app makes me curious to know more about this option. However, a question hits my mind: is Google planning to introduce instant messages in its Maps app? If yes, it will be a blunder from Google.

Google Maps is one of the essential navigation apps Smartphone users heavily rely upon. This app has steadily been improved by the search engine. Recently, some Google Maps users found that the company is planning to introduce instant messages in Maps app.

Given oodles of messaging apps and their acceptance, an instant message was the only thing missing in Google Maps. One of the Reddit users posted screenshots, showing Messages option on Android phones. Well, iOS users should not regret as iPhone too shows this option on Google Maps.

Google Maps introduces messages to connect with businesses

For business owners, they have to ensure that they respond to the queries of their potential customers. They either need to assign a dedicated resource or use chatbots to interact with customers.

On my iPhone, I tried to interact with a famous garment shop in my city, but there is no response to my queries. This raises a fresh concern as the option is going to work on devices, where it is available.

This feature does not allow you to chat with your contacts or family members. It is understood that Google will never allow users to use this feature as other chat clients do. Since Google has its chat client, it will not let users chat with their contacts. How disturbing is it to receive notifications while navigating the unexplored terrains?

Google Maps offers countless other features to help smartphone users. The app has enabled users to download offline Google Maps on iPhone and Android. By using this feature, users can explore an entire area, town, or city without using cellular data. About instant messages in Google Maps, users won’t be able to communicate with their contacts. It is exclusively made for business owners. If Google allows users to interact like other chat apps, it will be a mistake.
