While I really enjoy using Facebook on my iPhone or iPad, one major problem that has often haunted me is its fast consumption of battery on my device. Initially, I thought the issue may be specific to my iPhone only. However, once I discussed the issue with my friends, I came to know that I was not alone to have faced the battery draining issue.

#1. Disable Background App Refresh

Step #1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone → Tap on General.

Step #1. Open Settings app and tap on Privacy.

Step #3. Locate Facebook in the list of apps. Under Allow Location Access, select Never.

#3. Force Close the App

Make sure to force close the app after you have used it. Else, it will keep running in the background and continue to eat into the battery. Simply double press the Home button and swipe up to close the app.

#5. Turn off In-app Sound

Do you need the In-app Sound? I find it completely worthless.

Step #1. Open Facebook and tap on More from the bottom left corner.

Step #2. Scroll down and tap on Settings.

Step #3. Tap on Account Settings followed by Sounds.

#6. Take Control of Facebook Notifications

It’s better to completely disable Facebook notifications if you want to save battery on your device. If you still want the alerts from this app, make sure to turn off Sounds.

You can temporarily get rid of the battery issue by just deleting and reinstalling the app. Besides, it will also free up a lot of space on your device thanks to the removal of documents and data stored by this social app.

#8. Add Mobile Site to Your Home Screen

You can add the mobile site to your Home screen in order to avoid using the official app. The best thing about it is that it will neither eat battery nor will it take away a lot of space.
