Ever since I came to know that Apple is reportedly developing curved iPhones with “touchless gesture controls,” I have been endlessly thinking about the smartphone. The well-known designer Martin Hajek has come up with some impressive curved iPhone renders.

From what I can see, the future iterations of the iPhone looks perfectly poised to continue to take Apple’s legacy to dominate the market. If the grapevine hits the jackpot, Apple will altogether change the way we interact with smartphones! More after the break:

“Apple is working on touchless gesture control and curved screens for future iPhones, projects that may help the company differentiate its most-important product in an increasingly crowded market, according to people with knowledge of the matter.”Bloomberg

As per the report, the control feature would allow users to perform tasks by moving their finger close to the screen even without tapping it. The middle of the iPhone’s display will be lower than the top and bottom edges making it more convenient for users to view and type messages.

It will be different from latest Samsung smartphone screens which sport curve down at the edges. So far, every iPhone model has used a flat display.

Even though the iPhone X’s OLED screen curves slightly at the bottom, it’s not quite visible. As compared to the less-flexible LCD screen technology, OLED (organic light emitting diode) displays can be folded and shaped into curves.

The tech giant is said to be investigating both air gestures and a curved design. However, the technology will take least two years to come to fruition, if at all the company decides to go ahead with it.

The iPhone maker is also said to be working on new screen technology called MicroLED. However, it’s at least three to five years away.

These renders look nice, but they look quite similar to Nokia banana phone. The device also seems to be a bit narrower than the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. And the keypad screen is hidden when the smartphone is compressed.

As curved iPhone is still a long way and we don’t know exactly how it would look like, these renders should be considered as nothing more than the wild guess. But one thing I can firmly say that curved screen is going to be the precursor to a foldable iPhone, which is also rumored to be in the pipeline.
