I hate to see my iPhone running out of steam and bringing everything that I’m doing at a standstill. And when I have to put the smartphone on the charge, I find it a bit too difficult to wait for the device to get fully juiced up. Believe me or not, it’s this pain that has compelled me to explore fastest ways to charge iPhone.
I guess many of you may be like me and would want to discover some useful hacks to enable the iOS device to juice up faster. I have tried out several ways and means to breeze through the charging process. So, I can tell which way the wind blows!
How to Speed up iPhone’s Charging Process
If you have latest iPhones like iPhone X, iPhone 8/8 Plus, you can take advantage of fast charging technology to charge your device up to 50 percent in 30 minutes. However, you will need to use USB-C to Lightning cable and the supported adapters including Apple 29W, 30W, 61W, or 87W USB-C Power Adapter.
What if you don’t have the latest iPhones? You can still speed up the charging through some smart tricks. Of course, these hacks can’t compete with the fast charging technology. However, they are worth taking a shot at, especially if you don’t like to see your iPhone charge rather slowly.
Tip #1. Turn Off Power Hungry Features
One of the most trusted tricks to accelerate charging on the iOS device is to disable all the power hungry features. Wondering which are the features that drain the battery of your device the most? Let me tell you that “Location Services” and “Background App Refresh” drain the battery the most. So, it’s better to turn them off while your device is charging.
Launch Settings app on your iPhone → Privacy → Location Services and turn off the switch next to Location Services.
Launch Settings app on your iOS device → General → Background App Refresh and then turn off the switch.
Tip #2. Disable Wi-Fi/Cellular
Another simple yet pretty functional trick that can come handy in helping the iPhone get juiced a bit quicker is putting Wi-Fi or cellular off. The endless alerts from apps and services you have subscribed to may keep on pinging the iPhone. Therefore, it won’t have the desired peace while being powered up. So, it’s better to turn it off.
Open Settings app on your iOS device → Wi-Fi and turn off the switch.
Open Settings app on your iOS device → Cellular Data and turn off the switch.
Tip #3. Use a wall charger (specifically, an iPad charger)
Do you know that you can use your iPad USB power adapter to charge an iPhone fast?
As compared to iPhone’s 5-volt charger that uses 1 amp for 5 watts of power, iPad’s charger comes with 5.1 volts, 2.1 amps and robust 12 watts of power. So, if you have an iPad, make the best use of its superior charger to power up your device rapidly. Check out the range of wall chargers.
Tip #4. Turn On Airplane Mode
I often make the most of this simple way to charge the device a bit fast. What it does is turn off the radios on the iPhone, thereby allowing it to get juiced up without any disturbance.
So, if you don’t mind missing out some calls or notification, do give this tip a try.
Tip #5. Force Quit All the Apps before Charing your iPhone
Don’t let apps keep running in the background. Force quit the running apps before charging the iPhone. Give it a change and see the difference. It can go a long way in cutting down the extra time.
Tip #6. Switch Off the iPhone
I don’t think many of you would like to try out this trick because it requires you to switch off your smartphone. However, if you wish to see your device is powered up faster, do not miss out on this one.
Tip #7. Use Certified Chargers and Cables
When it comes to charging; you should always go for the MFi certified chargers and cable. It’s because only the certified cable can deliver fast and secure charging. Therefore, it’s better to pay a bit extra for an efficient charging solution.
Tip #8. Other Worth Checking Out Tips…
There are several other important things that can play a pivotal role in cutting out the lag in charging.
Remove the case
There are certain types of cases that may prevent your smartphone from charging securely. And if you find your device overheating during charging, make sure to remove the cover.
Keep the Lightning Port Clean
Make sure to clean the Lightning port from time to time. At times, dust or lint can come in the way of charging and you may repeatedly see “Accessory may not be supported message” even if it’s certified.
Go Through At Least One Charge Cycle Every Month
It’s better to let your iPhone die and go through at least one charge cycle once in a month. To be more precisely, charge your iPhone 100% and then let the battery completely run out of power so that it gets switched off.
Always Charge Your iPhone in Normal Temperature
You should never expose your iPhone to either excessive cold or hot environment. The ideal ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F).
Low or high-temperature conditions affect the battery to drain faster or not get charged quickly.
That’s pretty much it!
