Unable to Download iOS 12 on iPhone and iPad? Check Out the Viable Tricks
- Ensure that your iPhone has at least 50% power and connected to Wi-Fi.
- If your device doesn’t have enough juice, connect it to a power source and try to update.
- If you are getting error message repeatedly even though you have checked all the requirements, it would be worth to wait for a couple days. There is a high chance that Apple’s server is too jam packed to let you update to iOS 12 smoothly.
Ensure That Your W-Fi is Up to the Task
If there is poor Wi-Fi or it’s not up to the mark, you may not be able to update your iPhone smoothly. So, ensure that your iPhone has a proper Wi-Fi connection. Follow this troubleshooting guide to resolve WiFi issues in iOS 12 on your iPhone.
Download iOS 12 Using iTunes
Most of the times, whenever Apple releases the public version of the new iOS, its server tends to get cramped due to massive traffic. Therefore, installing the latest iOS version via OTA (Over-the-Air Updates) is not the wise option as it often gets stuck.
If the iOS 12 installation is repeatedly failing, it would be better to take the help of iTunes to overcome the hurdle.
Step #1. Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable and fire up iTunes.
Step #2. Now, select the device icon at the top left corner.
Step #3. Next, click on Check for Updates.
Then, click on Download and Update.
Up next, follow the prompts to install the latest iOS version as usual.
Download and Install iOS 12 in Recovery Mode
If this trick hasn’t worked, you will need to download and install iOS 12 in Recovery Mode. But before trying out this trick, ensure that you have the latest backup of your iPhone.
Step #1. Turn off your iOS device and then connect it to your computer using the USB cable.
Now, put your iPhone into Recovery Mode. As the process is different on the latest iPhones, follow this quick guide to get it done.
Step #2. After you have entered recovery mode on the device, check out the message in the iTunes. Click on Update.
Click on Update again to download and install the official iOS version.

Now, let the OS get installed peacefully.
