Apple has once again introduced hefty discounts in China to make up for missing the guidance last festive season. This time it is for iPhone XS and XS Max.
However, a thing to note is that there is no change in price at the Apple retail store or on the official online channel.
Huge Discounts on iPhone XS and XS Max after Price Cut for iPhone XR in China
Most of the significant cuts are at the E-Commerce websites operating in China. The discount ranges between 1000 Yuan (approx. $150) to 2000 Yuan (approx $300). These discounts have pushed the sale of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max in China.
The Taipei Central News Agency first reported the news. This isn’t the first time Apple has considered lowering the price of the iPhone X series in China. Earlier in January, Apple slashed prices for iPhone XR, while this time it is iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
This news isn’t a surprise, as Apple already announced that they were considering reviewing their pricing in certain countries. This back to back price reduction on different iPhone models in China is hinting about the strategy execution.
Another thing to note is that Apple’s official sales channel have not reduced the price. Some analyst says that “Apple is offering lower rates to resellers, to discount currency fluctuation; ultimately passing the benefit to the end user.”
Whatever may be the reason, the discounts offered in China at the moment are indeed tempting for genuine iPhone buyer, and we may see some decent sales volume for Apple.
In an official word, Apple did mention to consider currency fluctuation effect in some countries. We noticed that being done already in China. The big question is whether we can see such discounts in other countries like India? Let us know your thoughts.
