Lockscreen is one of the most fertile places on your iPhone/iPad. Apple chooses to leave it blank for one strong reason: it’s designed to be a lockscreen. But some of us think that adding some functionality to this piece of barren land does no harm. In fact, it adds to the features of iOS.

With iOS 7, a number of lockscreen Cydia tweaks have cropped up. Not all of them meet our criteria of being supremely functional, useful and beautiful but we’ve tried to filter that list and present the best, most useful, nicely designed and best lock screen tweaks for iOS 7.x. Check it out:

#1. Convergance
Convergance (yes, with an “a”, not “e”) is a lockscreen theme that is more than a theme actually. It’s more of a widget-focused add-on for the lockscreen which kind of revolutionizes the way you use the lockscreen to access different parts of the iOS. For instance, instead of linear notifications, app icons are shown with numbers on them. Tap on the app icon and it shows notifications under the app.

The theme also brings quite a bunch of control toggles when you swipe to the left of the lockscreen. You can tweak these from the settings panel for the tweak. You can also tweak the appearance of the lockscreen.

Swiping down brings a few widgets (built within the theme) like the calendar widget, an RSS feed widget etc. Convergance appears to be a very exciting andpotential lockscreen tweak that should put a lot of features to your LS. It’s not yet available on any default repos but you can get the theme (instructions are here)

#2. CustomLS
customLS is a very popular tweak that lets you configure a variety of options on the lockscreen. One of the prominent features that customLS is known for is changing the “slide to unlock” text to whatever you want it to be. But there’s more to it. For instance, you can hide the camera grabber, hide the NC/CC grabbers, the clock etc.

#3. Spectral
Spectral is actually more of a music-related tweak but it impacts the lockscreen wallpaper when you are listening to music on your iPhone. Spectral changes the lockscreen wallpaper to be a blurred version of the album artwork of the current song playing on your iDevice. It works subtly although it doesn’t present any functional aspect as such.

#4. AppBox
AppBox is a lockscreen app launcher that lets you launch apps quickly and also – when you tap and hold on the app icons – go to specific parts of the app instantly. It’s a tweak if you use some apps very frequently: like the phone app for instance. The contextual-open is a cool feature where you tap and hold on the icon to go to a particular part of the app (like FaceTime Contacts, New Note, Playlist view in Music app etc.). AppBox puts the icons on the right of the lockscreen so a swipe to left gives you access to the app shortcuts.

#5. AndroidLock XT
One of the coolest and the most popular lockscreen tweaks for iOS. It brings the all-too-popular lockscreen from Android to the iOS platform. The tweak can be configured – it features an iOS 7-themed UI now. The tweak lets you use patterns as passcodes to lock/unlock the screen. And it’s quite stable for the update.

#6. TabLess
TabLess is actually a standalone tweak that replicates one of the functions of customLS. It removes the NC and the CC tabs / grabber handles from the lockscreen. If you’re not going to use customLS, it’s a slightly heavier tweak than TabLess so you can choose this one instead. Note that even though it removes the grabbers, the NC and CC will still be accessible from the lockscreen (unless you turn them off from Settings).

#7. GroovyLock
GroovyLock is – for those of you are not familiar – a tweak that lets you use HTML-based add-ons on the lockscreen. At the moment, there are few add-ons for GroovyLock (like RisingBars) that make it awesome. With GroovyLock, you can theme your lockscreen (design, widgets, fonts, clock, layout etc.) without using Winterboard. The tweak is compared to Cydget which does pretty much the same although at the moment, it’s easier to activate GroovyLock addons. Cydget has more support and more devs creating addons for Cydget but GroovyLock is cool too.

#8. SubtleLock
SubtleLock aims to tone down the Lockscreen and make it even more minimal. It’s basically a lockscreen theming tweak again with basic features that include some from customLS (removing/hiding lockscreen elements). I am not sure if you’ll find it worth the $1 you spend on it but if you like the minimalism offered by this tweak, it’s up for grabs.

Price: $1 | Repo: BigBoss

#9. NoBlur
The iOS 7 lockscreen blurs whenever there’s a notification on screen. Or when the passcode lockscreen pulls up. Incidentally, this is good interface design for focus. But if you prefer that your gorgeous lockscreen remain intact, “unblurred”, here’s a tweak that makes it possible. NoBlur will prevent iOS 7 from blurring the background on the lockscreen when there’s a notification or when the passcode keypad comes up.

#10. iOS 7 Lockscreen Weather
Based on Cydget, the iOS 7 Lockscreen Weather is a gorgeous and awesome weather-info display for your iPhone’s lockscreen. It relies on Cydget. The widget/theme might conflict with other lockscreen themes or tweaks that you install. But it’s a very clean and beautiful lockscreen theme for weather information.

#11. ConceptLS
ConceptLS is another Cydget-based tweak which – in my opinion – drives away JellyLock7 with respect to design. The tweak adds more option than a launcher and the way you can edit it WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) is cool.

Price: $2.99 | Repo: MacCiti

Bonus (Cydget-based): If you are really looking to edit your Lockscreen, Cydget is a good way to start. For starters, add this repo: http://patrickmuff.ch/repo/ to your Sources and explore. Patrick is the creator of the amazing RisingBars theme and the AnalogClock. The design aesthetic is amazing.

#12. Lockify Pro
What if you could combine the features of a lot of tweaks mentioned above and put them all under one tweak? Looks like that was the intention of the tweak developer of Lockify Pro. There’s really too many feature to customize with the tweak and it changes every aspect of the lockscreen. Here’s something for starters. You can customize: dim delay, color of the date and time display, configure status bar elements, hide/show grabbers for camera, NC and CC, customize the slide to unlock text and more.

Price: $0.99 | Repo: BigBoss

#13. SlideWeather
SlideWeather is weather information replacing the ‘slide to unlock’ text on lockscreen slider. It’s a simple tweak that picks weather data for your current location and puts that on the lockscreen. The slide to unlock text is replaced with the current weather information. The implementation/design is very seamless, with the developer retaining the same font and stylization for the text. You have a few options that you configure, like hide/show the chevron,  edit the preceding text or  configure the refresh interval.

Repo: BigBoss | Price: $1.00

#14. Reminders for Lockscreen
A pricey-tweak at $1.99, Reminders for Lockscreen is for people who excessively depend on the Reminders app. The tweak will put all your reminders on the lockscreen so that every time you awaken the iPhone, you have reminders staring at you. The reminders will disappear only when it’s erased/done (which is a very brute-force way of making sure you don’t miss a reminder). There are tons of things you can customize about Reminders for Lockscreen (aesthetics, what reminders are shown, icon style, date/time layout, size and color etc.).

Price: $1.99 | Repo: BigBoss

#15. BetterLS
Like customLS, BetterLS is designed to let you customize every aspect of your lockscreen. It’s more minimal and smarter in the toggles. You can change pretty much everything on the lockscreen using BetterLS. Enabling/disabling album art, toggling the grabbers for Notification Center/Control Center, customizing the slider… there’s even controls for customizing the spacing between items on the lockscreen.

Price: $1.50 | Repo: BigBoss

#16. No Tint&Blur Lockscreen
iOS 7 lockscreen background becomes blurred when you have a notification show up on the lockscreen. This is a default behavior of the UI but if you want to disable this effect, No Tint&Blur Lockscreen can take care of it. It prevents the lockscreen wallpaper from being tinted dark or blurred whenever there’s a notification on the lockscreen.
