Once you jailbreak your iPad, it opens up a lot of options to configure and tweak. There are millions of tweaks out there – most of them compatible with both iPhone and iPad, some of them compatible only with the iPhone but then, there’s a small group of tweaks that are specifically designed for the iPad.

iPad Cydia tweaks help you get the best out of your iPad, much more than what Apple normally allows. Think about getting OS X-style notifications, splitting the mail screen for a better view even in the Portrait mode, or being able to get more activator-style actions. It’s all possible thanks to the world of Cydia tweaks for the iPad.

We’ve compiled a list of our favorite Cydia tweaks for iPad. I’m mostly looking for functionality-based tweaks (as against interface/design-based ones).

iPad Cydia Tweaks

So here goes:

Best Cydia Tweaks for iPad and iPad Mini:

Emblem
Emblem puts OS X style notifications on your iPad. The iPhone has a smaller display so the notification banners are good on it but with a larger display like that on the iPad, it makes sense to have some OS X style notifications on the corner of the screen. Emblem does that pretty beautifully.

KillBackground
KillBackground is a must-have. Every time you have to kill apps running in the background, you can’t be tapping all the minus badges on all the icons on the switcher. You’ve got to have this tweak running. KillBackground is actually compatible with both the iPhone and the iPad.

SplitMail
Splitmail is a tweak that enables the split view in the mail app even when your iPad’s in the portrait mode. One special feature of iPad’s mail app is that it splits the mail window (in landscape mode) so you can handle emails faster and better. Splitmail makes this feature available even in the portrait mode.

SwipeSelection
If you type a lot on the iPad, you are also editing a lot. Copy, select, paste, cut… that’s hard with the touch thing. So SwipeSelection makes it easier by making use of gestures. SwipeSelection might sound abstract at first but once you begin to use it and get the hang of it, you’ll love it. SwipeSelection is a real boon for people who have a type a lot on their iPads.

Zephyr
Zephyr is an ultra-popular (rightly so) tweak which makes gesture-based multi-tasking easier and faster on the iPad. The iPad, as you know, already comes with a lot of gesture-based actions. Multitasking is one of the favorite ones. Zephyr makes it easier and simpler. Swipe up with one finger and you’ve got the task switcher; swipe left/right with a finger and you’re switching between open apps. Just like that.

FullForce
FullForce forces iPhone-only apps (or apps designed only for the iPhone but run on the iPad too using the 2x feature) to run fullscreen on the iPad. If you really want to get rid of the 2x feature and instead, get the app blown to the full size of the iPad’s screen, you should use FullForce. This is especially handy when you run a lot of apps that are specifically designed for the iPhone.

NCSettings
I can’t think of an iPhone without this tweak. NCSettings is a minimal but powerful variant of SBSettings. It puts all the settings toggles on the notification center so brightness, Wifi, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth, Power options, portrait lock and other options are readily available. A must-have for the iPad.

InfiniDock
All that huge space on the dock and Apple lets you put only four icons? Break the rules! InfiniDock makes it possible to have as many icons on the dock as you want. Sort of OS X style dock with a lot of icons, eh?

Winterboard
Winterboard is the default theming app for any iOS device. We’ve covered a lot on Winterboard themes here. You can theme your iPad to have a variety of unique features and personalize it to your taste through a ton of Winterboard themes.

Colorful Status
Colorful Status is a visual tweak (for use with Winterboard) that has no real functionality. It colors the various parts of your status bar (like battery icon, Wifi icon, time etc.) Eye-candy, basically.

NCPad
If Emblem isn’t your choice, NCPad should make things at least better and familiar. NCPad stretches all the notification banners on your iPad so they fill up the top horizontal completely. Again, it’s a small tweak for familiarity.
