Amidst a lot of reports and rumors, we’re looking at leaked images once again. We had earlier posted on those photos of iPhone 5S and 6 speaker assemblies leaked to Nowhereelse.fr. Following this, we now hear about the next-gen iPad (iPad 5) from 9To5Mac.
[quote_box_center]Today, we received an unverified image from a purported China-based iPad accessories maker, an industry that seems to frequently tip off Apple’s future product designs, of the back plate for the next iPad.[/quote_box_center]
The reputed website posted images of what appear to be the back-casing of iPad 5. They look a lot like a larger version of the iPad Mini’s backplate. Rumors have been floating around hinting that the next iPad, the iPad 5, will feature a design that resembles the iPad Mini. Perhaps, if the images are really those of true product prototypes, the rumor gets a strong shot in the arm.
[quote_box_center]…it does provide a solid representation of what Apple’s next iPad will likely look like. We were told this is a prototype back piece for the fifth-generation iPad with a 9.7-inch display. We were also told that the casing is almost as thin as the iPad mini’s back.[/quote_box_center]
The backplate appears to go for a configuration of a 9.7″ tablet so there’s in all probability no change in the screen of the iPad 5. The leaked part photo also reveals an LTE band so this is the LTE-version of the iPad 5 we’re looking at.
Not-so-interestingly, the case is quite thin. Yes, Apple has been looking to make its products thinner and lighter and this featurette isn’t going to be as outstanding as it was a few years ago.
iPad 5’s release date is – we sure hope – sometime in October this year. According to recent rumors, Apple will be possibly announcing a small update to iPad 4 with a 128GB capacity. That is expected in March, the traditional iPad season. If Apple announces a minor upgrade of this sort, iPad 5 should specifically be an Sept-October affair.
