Even before “Apple Watch” would launch publicly in April, it has been awarded the 2015 iF Gold Design Award. International Forum is a famous industrial design competition which is held annually.
International Forum (iF) Product Design award was launched in 1954 and ever since then it has been hosting the prestigious award every year. Based on a number of key aspects such as, aesthetic design, brand value, choice of materials, workmanship, ergonomics and innovation, its jury decides the winners.
Apple Watch Wins “iF Design Gold Award 2015”
Out of 64 telecommunication products, only two have won the iF Gold award and Apple Watch is one of them. 1,124 products were shortlisted and granted iF label in the competition. However, only 47 products could win the renowned Gold awards. Not only did the jury bestow the prestigious gold award to Apple Watch but also called it an “Icon”.
Apple has won a number of iF Design awards earlier for many products such as, iPhone 6, iPad Air, iMac, EarPods, and Apple Keyboard etc. Till now, Apple has succeeded in winning a mammoth 118 IF Design awards.
However, the Cupertino-based company has achieved only 44 Gold awards for its products. Apple Watch is the latest to have won the Gold award.
Recently, Apple Watch has been hogging the limelight across the media forums thanks largely to being Apple’s first wearable device. It has found its place on the front pages of many famous magazines.
Designed to take the fashionable as well as aesthetic aspects of traditional watches to the next level, Apple Watch is expected to sell over 20 million watches in the very first year of arrival.
Apple is going to reveal more about Apple Watch on the Spring Event due to be held on 9th of March. The Cupertino will shed more light on the Watch’s battery life and price.
