In this case, a Jet Ski enthusiast Phillip Esho from Lincoln Square, Lake Michigan, Chicago, USA had his brush with death as he showed the presence of mind to raise an SOS with the help of his Apple Watch and call for quick help.
As reported on WBBM NEWSRADIO website, Phillip was on a Jet Ski ride between 31st Street Harbor to McCormick Place to picture the scenic skyline of Chicago about two weeks back.
Apple Watch Saves Jet Ski Enthusiast from Drowning
While riding through one of the high and mighty waves, he began to get gobbled up in a gigantic wave that dragged him in and almost drowns him. He lost his iPhone during that event, and there was no one, nor any boats in the vicinity to hear him raise the alarm even though he was wearing a life jacket – a flotation device.
In the melee, he hit the emergency 911 number on his Apple Watch having emergency call feature, but he was not sure if he could get his SOS message through as the call got disconnected in the attempt.
However, Chicago police, a helicopter, and fire boat found their way to reach him and save his life.
Phillip thanks specifically his Apple Watch emergency call feature for helping him raise the alarm and save his life to live another day.
