According to Bloomberg, Apple is to transform the HealthKit into a tool that can improve diagnosis. A number of healthcare experts, which have been hired in recent times, are reportedly developing software that will be capable of interpreting fitness data, which would turn it into advice for not just users but also doctors.
Currently, the HealthKit only collects fitness data. However, Apple is set to give it a new avatar that will enable it to understand and analyze patient’s data.
HealthKit May Soon Turn into a Diagnosis Tool
“Scores of health-care experts hired by Apple in recent years are building improved electronic health record software that can better analyze and understand the implications of patient data, according to people familiar with the team’s plans.
The iPhone maker is also working on new apps for the Apple Watch. One helps users track sleep patterns, one of the people said. Another app gauges fitness levels by measuring the time taken for the heart rate to fall from its peak to resting level, according to one of the other people. Apple already has an app that measures heart rate, but doesn’t interpret that data.” Bloomberg.
Through two new apps the collection of health, as well as fitness data will be supported by the Apple Watch. The apps will allow users to track their sleep patterns. They can also be used to measure fitness levels.
“If you drive for a while and your car gets too hot, it says pull over. If you need an oil change, it says check your oil. What’s the equivalent for the body? Health is a huge issue around the world and we think it’s ripe for simplicity and a new view.” Apple CEO Tim Cook had said at Startup Fest Europe in May.
If the report proves to be true, then the HealthKit is going to be enormously valuable for iPhone and Apple Watch users. What do you think of it? Do share your feedback in the comment, on Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus. Also, don’t forget to download our app on your iDevice.
